INSTRUCTIONS TO UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE ON YOUR BLACKBERRY BOLD 9900 AND TORCH 9810 DEVICES 1. Please ensure that you have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed on your computer machine in order to proceed to download and install the software update for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 device. If you do not have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed on your machine, you can click on the following link to have download and installed: http://us.blackberry.com/software/smartphones/update/blackberry7-os.html System requirements are also listed on the URL provided above. 2. Download the software update from the following URL: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=B476828992F393A09339CF62 70D30AA8 Look for any software above version 5.0 and download that software. Please note if there is a version 7.0 for that device (like the BB Bold 9790 or the BB Bold 9900), select the latest 7.0 version. 3. Once the software update on the device has been downloaded, please proceed to unzip it using WinRar or Winzip. A setup file would be extracted. The name of the setup file is for example: 9900M_PBr7.1.0_rel2364_PL5.1.0.606_A7.1.0.861 4. Please double click on the setup file and proceed with the install. Please ensure that the BlackBerry Desktop Software is not open before you proceed with the installation. The screenshots are shown below:

INSTRUCTIONS TO UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE ON YOUR BLACKBERRY BOLD 9900 AND TORCH 9810 DEVICES

1. Please ensure that you have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed on your computer

machine in order to proceed to download and install the software update for the BlackBerry

Bold 9900 device. If you do not have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed on your

machine, you can click on the following link to have download and installed:

http://us.blackberry.com/software/smartphones/update/blackberry7-os.html

System requirements are also listed on the URL provided above.

2. Download the software update from the following URL:

https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=B476828992F393A09339CF62

70D30AA8

Look for any software above version 5.0 and download that software. Please note if there is a

version 7.0 for that device (like the BB Bold 9790 or the BB Bold 9900), select the latest 7.0

version.

3. Once the software update on the device has been downloaded, please proceed to unzip it using

WinRar or Winzip. A setup file would be extracted. The name of the setup file is for example:

9900M_PBr7.1.0_rel2364_PL5.1.0.606_A7.1.0.861

4. Please double click on the setup file and proceed with the install. Please ensure that the

BlackBerry Desktop Software is not open before you proceed with the installation. The

screenshots are shown below:

Click Next to continue.

Click on Install

Click Finish. You may be prompted to reboot your machine when completed.

5. Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Ensure that you connect your BlackBerry Bold 9900

device to your machine via the USB port. Please see screenshot below:

6. Another window comes up to add the new BlackBerry device, click Cancel as shown below:

7. The BlackBerry Desktop Software would continue its process and would search for any software

updates. It would recognize the new software you have installed from Steps 2 and 3 above and

prompt you to update as shown below:

Click on the Get Update button.

8. Another window is displayed with the Update Options. Under the Data Backup sub-heading,

please select “Back up device data” and under Email Notifications sub-heading, uncheck “Email

me when new versions are available” as shown below:

Click on Install update button and proceed with upgrade. Please refer to screenshots below for

guidance.

When completed, the following screen appears:

Click close to complete the upgrade process.

9. The following screen would show the latest software version for the BlackBerry Bold 9900:

10. After upgrade is complete, please ensure that your emails are integrated properly by sending a

few test emails from your BlackBerry device. If not, go to the Setup icon on the home screen of

your BlackBerry Bold 9900 or BlackBerry Torch 9810 devices and select Email Accounts. For BES

users, please contact your BES system administrator for further assistance. For BIS users, go to

Internet Mail Account and ensure that all your email accounts are setup. Within that same

screen, click on the Menu button and select Service Books. Then click on the Send Service Books

button and this would resend configurations to your device to ensure your emails are properly

integrated on your device.
