WaveaNalyzer 1500S high reSolUtioN optical SpectrUm aNalyzer

Finisar is releasing version 1.5 of the Graphical User Interface WaveAnalyzer package. This package provides enhanced signal analysis capability to support Optical Signal to Noise Ratio (OSNR) Measurements with real time update rates of up to 10 Hz. The WaveAnalyzer’s special 6-point OSNR measurement technique supports OSNR mea-surements on densely spaced channels by exploiting the high 150 MHz spectral resolution capability of the instrument.

The new package also includes a wavelength meter mode which takes advantage of the WaveAnalyzer's 150 MHz spectral resolution and outstanding fre-quency accuracy to automatically measure frequency and power of up to 99 channels across the spectrum.

The WaveAnalyzer version 1.5, which incorporates these enhancements, will be available for download starting in April.

high Speed photodetectorS aNd photoreceiverS Finisar Berlin has been a market leader in high-end InP optoelectronic receivers, and a trusted supplier for T&M manufacturers, R&D laboratories and Research Centers worldwide since 1998.

Our devices feature high-speed detection up to 100 GHz and beyond, higher optical input and RF-power handling, extremely flat linearity over a broad bandwidth range, and coverage of both optical windows: 1310 nm and 1550 nm.

Our product range includes packaged photodiodes as Photodetectors and combined with integrated TIAs (trans-impedance amplifiers) as Photoreceivers. We also provide evaluation kits and power supplies to simplify daily work tasks in the laboratory.

We are pleased to announce our latest high-power photodetector, the HPDV2120R, for applica-tions requiring high power handling and linearity.

The compact module is based on an advanced waveguide photodetector chip integrated with Bias-Tee. It utilizes a mode-converting tapered waveguide for efficient fiber-to-chip coupling and a 1×4 Multi-Mode Interference (MMI) Coupler. The optical signal is split by the MMI coupler into 4 equal parts and then it’s fed into an array of 4 photodiodes which are connected in parallel.

The advanced performance of HPDV2120R fea-tures a RF-output power of 6 dBm @ 20 GHz and 3

dBm @ 50 GHz, and a high linearity (OIP3) of >20 dBm @ 40 GHz, without external cooling.

The HPDV2120R is suitable for applications within the fields of Analog Photonics, RF-over-Fiber, and many more application requesting high-power handling and linearity. For more information, please visit www.finisar.com/products/optical-components/High-Performance-LW-Detectors.

The most important properties of pulse compression gratings are high diffraction efficiency and low wave front deformation due to multi-pass use requirements for the gratings. LightSmyth's gratings are fabricated by a unique state-of-the-art projection photolithography and reactive ion etch process which avoids the need for replication and ensures that each grating is, effectively, a master with ultra-low scatter.

...pUlSe-compreSSioN gratiNgS (coNt)These high fidelity semiconductor fabrication methods enable precise realization of sophisticated proprietary grating designs and provide diffraction efficiency of more than 94% optimized for linear P-polarization. This minimizes optical losses in the system, which is especially critical for high energy lasers.

The combination of optimized design and manufacturing provides:

• Exceptional diffraction efficiency for selected polarization

• Broad passband and low angular sensitivity

• Low wavefront deformation in transmission by using ultra-polished quartz substrates

• High damage threshold since only fused silica and highly robust dielectric materials are used (no polymers or organics).
