WELCOMEWelcome to LMM’s Instruments of Change Livestream. Tonight we celebrate the children on our programme who have kept on playing through the pandemic.

LMM teaches 1,300 children every week, giving them the chance to learn together and to aim high through their musicianship, violin or cello studies. During these challenging times, it is difficult to keep our children and young people motivated, but we’re doing everything we can to stay engaged with them to make a positive impact on their routine and wellbeing. Our team has mobilised to organise online resources, weekly Zoom lessons, and a regular programme of events encouraging creative music making.

Helping our pupils to take more ownership of their own learning will stand them in good stead for the future, and we hope our activities online can benefit children far beyond those in the LMM family. Now more than ever it is crucial to make sure that the children who are least privileged don’t continue to be disproportionately affected.

The response from our office team, teachers, volunteers and supporters has been extremely heartening; I have never been prouder to be the Executive Director of this charity. Thank you to everyone who has made our work possible, and continues to do so. Enjoy the evening!
