Annexure-I
General Guidelines for Summer Internship (Batch 2011-13)Dates: 03.05.2012-02.07.2012
Stage I:
1.Selection of Research Topic
Students are expected to do their Summer Internship on topics related toAwareness amongst customers about products, Marketing of Insurance
Products, Market Penetration of Products, Compliance of IRDA regulations
on Protection of Policyholders Interest by Companies and study of Complaint
Redressal Mechanism etc. etc. The projects could be Company Specific, Area
specific or Comparison of products of different companies etc.
In all projects, collection of Primary Data and its analysis is mandatory.
However, in case the students are entrusted with assignments related to
Claims, underwriting etc, the requirement of primary data will be dispensed
with.
2. As far as possible the subject matter/ topic must be specific and not
general, needing Exploratory Research and primary data collection
3. Students are advised to remain in touch with the Faculty Mentors and ensure
that the stage-wise Time Frames fixed are honoured WITHOUT
EXCEPTION. The paper carries 200 marks with 9 Credits.
Delayed submission attracts penalties stage-wise i.e. deduction of marks as givenin the notice.
Stage II:
1. Chapter1: Introduction: Every student is supposed to submit the
Introduction about the research topic. At the time of submission of
introduction students are supposed to submit the tentative chapterization
scheme and the questionnaire. Objective/s of the study must be reflected
in Questionnaire
2. Chapter II: Review of Literature: Students are advised to go through 10 or
more Books/ Websites/ Research Papers related to their Research Topic
Including General about the Industry, Specific to the Bank/Insurance
companies and to the topic etc. and select the relevantparagraphs that will
be quoted in chapter II. (Details to be mentioned in the Bibliography)
3. Chapter III: Objective/ Scope/ Rationale of the Study: Students are to write
the objective/s of the study in Bullet Points (paragraphs will not be

accepted). Research Topic must be reflected in objective/s of the Research
Project. Scope and rationale of the study should also be in bullet points.
4. Chapter IV:Research Methodology:
i. Hypothesis if any
ii. Research design
iii. Sample design
a. Target population
b. Sample framec. Sampling Unit
d. Sample Size
e. Sampling Method
iv. Method of data collection
a. Tool for data collection
v. Tools for data analysis
5. Chapter V:Data Analysis and Findings: The data which students have collected
with help of Questionnaire should be tabulated on MS-Excel Sheet and then theyshould analyze the data to prove or disapprove the hypothesis. After data analysis
write the findings.
6. Chapter VI: Conclusions / Suggestions: Based on the data analysis and findings
give your Conclusions / suggestions.
7. Chapter VII:Bibliography and references

6. The certificate from the Industry Mentor must be collected before taking leave of
them.
7. Final Hard Bound Copy (Black Colour/ Golden print on the Cover page) with a
CD to be submitted to Faculty Mentor.
