Introduction

• The project area is on a Special Grant situated in Southern Zimbabwe, east of the town of Beitbridge

• The Special Grant was mapped using aerial photographs and Google imagery.

• An aeromagnetic survey was conducted over an area approximately 95 square km

• Survey lines were flown N_S at 50m intervals

• The Stratagem CSAMT survey was done on 5 selected lines running N to NNE across regional strike

• CSAMT depth of investigation down to 1km

• Old drill hole data shows that the coal seams coincide roughly with low resistivity zones on CSAMT sections

Conclusion• The aeromagnetic data is very useful in mapping out dykes, faults and lithologies

on surface

• The CSAMT maps out low resistivity zones which are directly or indirectly related to coal seams

– maps the depth extension of dykes, faults and thrusts interpreted from the magnetics

– also useful in mapping out sills, non-magnetic dykes and sedimentary basin thickness

• The geophysics assists the geologist to identify better areas to drill for undisturbed coal seams, free of intrusions and faults making real savings.

• Reserves and Resources will be calculated with more assurance, particularly in difficult areas like Bubye.

• There is now confidence that an opencast resource could be delineated with drilling and it would support a small power station and produce a coking coal.
