Acts of Conscious Integration
Experience:
• As a child, I was raised with a rotating cast of people. • Temporary is ‘normal.’
• ’Next’ is a given.
Interpreted Meaning:
• Life is uncertain
• I am inconvenient
Experience:
• Mom’s new place has a lot of rules. • Mom’s new boyfriend has a lot of rules.
Interpreted Meaning:
• If you want to stay, mind the rules, be good enough to keep around
Experience:
• Mom always sides with new Dad. • They are a team.
Interpreted Meaning:
• I don’t belong.
• I’m on my own.
Experience:
• Moved every year.
• Perpetual new kid.
Interpreted Meaning:
• I have to keep proving myself worthy.
Experience:
• Crushed by the one I loved
Interpreted Meaning:
• Loving that much hurts too bad
• Don’t risk that again.
• Stay in control
. . . and you can see how well that’s gonna work out . . .
A Peek at My Journal
Truth:
• I was inconvenient • I have been loved often . . . and well . . .
• And I still am.
And that’s my story.
