the hydro power in France and in the Basque country. Presentation realized by a group of pupils of 1st class within the framework of the TPE in French and in English. Storage of CO2: meeting with an ingeneer. Lithium Battery, a solution for the future?:

meeting with a journalist of the local newspaper who wrote an article about the lithium production in Bolivia and the politic and economic consequences.

CONCLUSION

The first year of the project was very busy.We find it was difficult to coordinate all the activities with all the teachers involved in the project. It was necessary to take extra time with the pupils to coordinate their activities: they felt it was too much so they were not very motivated to work during an extra time.Most of the teachers didn’t want to go on because of the extra work.English teachers were not motivated by the project except the training teachers who gave us a help.

We decided to reduce the group of pupils and to focus on one activity which was easy to integrate into the curriculum and into the time table.This activty (TPE) was important for their final exam and gave them a mark included in the baccalaureat.

FOR THE FUTURE

Since 2010, new programs are developped. Energy and sustainable development are integrated into the sciences curriculae.Exploration subjects like « Scientist Methodes and Practices » and « personalized help » are suitable to work on this kind of project with pupils during lessons.In the future, this kind of project will be integrated into the curriculum so it will be easier to motivate teachers and pupils.
