The Intel PRO/Wireless network connection is the integrated Wireless LAN (WLAN) solution for
Intel Centrino™ mobile technology. The Intel PRO/Wireless network connection works in concert
with the other Intel Centrino mobile technology components to provide freedom and flexibility to
work and play on the go without hunting for a phone
jack, network cable, or plugging in a special card. Get
connected through wireless LAN networks in your home,
in the office, and in wireless LAN hotspots in airports,
hotels and coffee shops.2
SecurityIntel Centrino mobile technology supports industry
standard security solutions designed to provide secure
network connectivity. Intel Centrino mobile technology
is Wi-Fi CERTIFIED to ensure interoperability with other certified products and it supports the
latest in Wi-Fi security with support for Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), WEP, CKIP and TKIP
encryption and LEAP, TLS, TTLS and PEAP EAP modes. Intel Centrino mobile technology is certified
under the Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX) Program to help ensure interoperability with Cisco
wireless LAN infrastructure and other Cisco Compatible certified products.
PerformanceWith throughput of up to 54 Mbps1 at 2.4 GHz (802.11g) or 11 Mbps1 at 2.4 GHz (802.11b), the Intel
PRO/Wireless network connection family enables fast network connections. The Intel Wireless
Coexistence System helps reduce interference with certain Bluetooth devices. Power Save
Protocol (PSP) is a user selectable feature with five different power states, allowing the user to
make their own power versus performance choice when in battery mode.
Enhanced Battery LifeThe Intel PRO/Wireless network supports the extended battery life benefits of Intel Centrino
Mobile Technology. Power Save Protocol (PSP) is a user selectable feature with five different
power states, which allows the user to make their own power versus performance choice when in
battery mode. Intel Intelligent Scanning Technology reduces power by controlling the frequency
of scanning for access points
Ease-of-useIntel PROSet software allows for multiple profile setup and automatic switching between profiles
for simplified wireless access as you move between different access points. The Intel PROSet
software provides Connection Status, Wireless Network Management and Diagnostics.
