Progress
• ILS3 Collaborative Laboratory (ECE 405)– Obtained sensor development kits – Initiated development of the sensor test-bed for our confined
space tracking problem– Sent students to training on sensor platforms– Initiated discussion for collaboration with Computer Science
• Submitted $2.5M NSF multi-investigator proposal for sensing systems research
• Developing $5M NSF proposal in collaboration with industry for sensor related mobile networking– Software defined radio– Programmable radios– DARPA neXt Generation (XG) spectrum management

Integration with Education
Architecture Framework
being developed in ECE 678
by MS & PhD students
ILS3ILS3Electrical & Computer Engineering
Progress
• Finalizing details for Sensor Fusion Research project Funding of ~$200K– Negotiating donation of ~$1M in computing equipment– Will deploy multi-layer fusion system in the ILS3 Collaborative
Laboratory– Primary focus is Layer 2 fusion
• Database representing 4 hours of sensor event messages for a “scenario” provided by the sponsor
• Goal: create AI-based algorithms to achieve Level 2 fusion across hundreds of elements (with thousands of observations) in real-time
• Includes strong Visualization element
– Sponsor by USArmy Battle Labs– Potential partners: SGI, Apple, USA Information Systems
