You need the free software called
“Calibre”
www.calibre-ebooks.com
Calibre is an eBook management tool where you can manage your eBook Library.
You will enjoy many hours in your library using Calibre (pronounced cal-i-ber)
DISCLAIMER: It is not the intent of this document to be a tutorial on Calibre. Please refer to the User’s Guide and other documentation provided when you download Calibre.
Once Installed launch Calibre and
you will see the main screen
Your screen will be blank until you “Add Books”
If you have eBooks on you local machine go ahead and ‘click’ the Add BooksButton at the top left hand corner.
If your eBooks are all on your NOOKcolor, attach your device via USB now.
Recommend copying your eBooks from your NOOKcolor to your hard drive
Adding eBooks to your Calibre
Library
You may add your B&N (and other eBooks with DRM) to your Calibre Library but you will not be able to add/change the cover
By using the ‘drop-down’ arrow to the side you have several options of adding eBooks.
Navigate to the appropriate file folder and select your book(s)

When your NOOKcolor is attached via USB Calibre reads your device and creates a new column on left hand side to indicate eBooks in both libraries.
NOTE: Calibre cannot read your eBooks from B&N in your B&N Downloads files.

This is how is the main menu should look when your book is added.
That big ugly blue thing to the right indicates you do not have a cover.
Click on blue button with the large ‘i’ to navigate to the “Edit Metadata” screen

This is the data about your eBook – The metadata.
The easiest way to get a cover is to use the Internet to find an ISBN number and enter it then ‘click’ on “Fetch metadata from server”

You may get a message the metadata could not be found. Use another ISBN number.
Be sure the ISBN has a cover and the box is checked to download cover; click OK.
If no cover, use a different ISBN; you may need to ‘test’ a few ISBN numbers.

Check the author, title and ‘sorts’ on the left side.
Add/check whether the book is a series and what number
Click OK

Your eBook should now appear with a cover on the left side
You are not done yet.
Now, click on the “Convert books” button

Be sure you are converting ‘EPUB’ to ‘EPUB’
Check your metadata and click OK.
Watch the bottom right hand side. This make take a minute.

Attach your device via USB (if not already)
Remove ‘old’ version from your NOOKcolor prior to loading.(use “Remove books” button in Green)
Click “Send to device”
Finishing Up
This was not intended to teach you everything about Calibre.
Experiment!
