Abdul Kalam Memorial Talk by Mr. Hormis Tharakan IPS (Retd) on 27 October 2017. Mr. Tharakan was the chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India's external intelligence agency where he revamped the functioning in a subtle and effective way. He shared his experiences working with the former president, Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam towards improving the national security and about the support he has received from Dr. Kalam on various initiatives to improve the National Security of our country. Mr. Tharakan also shared An Evening with Mr. Hormis Tharakan IPS (Retd) the vision of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and on how to make it a reality with effective policies. He shared with the students, the need of hardwork and determination that every student should develop to make India a superpower. The event was organised by the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The students who attended the memorial talk from Albertian Institute of Management were Mr. Bilin Baby, Ms. Gayathri S., Ms. Gopika N., Ms. Niya Eddin, Mr. Prannav P., Mr. Rijo Jacob, Mr. Sam John Koottunkal, Mr. Sharon Joseph, Ms. Sruthy Ullas and Ms. Ummu Kulzoom K. K. of first year Participation in Panel Discussion D r. Shiny C. M., Asst. Professor, AIM has attended the Panel Discussion on the topic "Context and Need for Re-Skilling HR Professionals in Kerala" on 31 st October 2017 organised by National Institute of Personnel Management. The Resource Persons of the panel were Mr. Jofin Joseph, Head of Operations India, FullContact, Dr. K. Anilkumar, HOD-MHRM, Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies and Mr. Krishnakumar, CEO, GreenPepper Consulting. Completion of certificate program on "Fundamentals of Capital Markets" 1 2 students of Albertian Institute of Management have successfully completed the certificate program on "Fundamentals of Capital Markets" with more than 70% marks in the examination. The students who have completed the course are Meenu A. S.; Sruthy Ullas; K. V. Namitha; Elizabeth Teema C. X.; Briyanda Evlin Pauva; Anuroopa Peter M.; Milana. K. Albert; Naithika Rajeev and Joshna K. B. of MBA first year and Sherin Ann Thomas; Monisha Alexander and Livya Maria Wilson of MBA Second year. Ravi Jain, the Manager of National Stock Exchange, visited our campus on 6 October 2017 for an interaction with the students. During his visit, he delivered a talk on the topic "Capital Markets and its role to uplift Indian Economy". During his talk, he discussed in detail about the capital markets and about the need of students to have a knowledge on capital investments. In his talk, he also shared with students how the capital markets work and how it will help in the growth of our economy. Mr. Jain was accompanied by Mr. Hariharan, the Asst. Manager of National Stock Exchange who introduced the Guest and their company (NSE) to the gathering. Dr. Geo Jos Fernandez, Dean, Albertian Institute of Management welcomed the Guests and Mr. Bilin Baby of first year MBA delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Jose William, Asst. Professor, Albertian Institute of Management gave our token of appreciation to Mr. Jain during the function.

Mr. Ravi Jain, the Manager of National StockExchange, visited our campus on 6 October

2017 for an interaction with the students. Lecture on Monetary Policy

The Albertian Institute of Management conducteda lecture on monetary policy of India for the First

year MBA students on 20 October 2017. Ms. DhanyaV. the Assistant Advisor of Department of Economicand Policy Research, Reserve Bank of India was theresource person for the lecture. The seminarhighlighted the importance and need of monetary andfiscal policies in our country. She has also explainedin depth how our country frames and designs these

policies and various constraints that are consideredduring the framing of these policies. Ms. Dhanya alsoexplained about inflation and why moderate inflationis needed for the prosperity of the economy. She alsogave tips on how the RBI works with the help of thesepolicies to control inflation. She even highlighted theneed for digitalisation and how our economy couldbenefit by coping up with the technologies. Dr. GeoJos Fernandez, Dean, Albertian Institute ofManagement introduced and welcomed the Guestand Ms. Ummu Kulzoom K. K. of first year MBAdelivered the vote of thanks.

Lecture on GST

On 26 October 2017, our students had a Lectureon GST by Mr. Mani A Pulimood, the Founder

Director of Megatrend Systems Pvt. Ltd. Thenuances of GST was explained by him in a simpleand interactive way and gave explanation on howGST came into effect and the struggle that ourleaders are facing in the implementation of GST.He also explained ton the need of GST and itsbenefits to our country. He explained the variousslabs in GST and also compareed the GSTimplemented in India with GST implemented inother countries . The session concluded with a Q&Asession with the students where he clarified variousdoubts raised during the lecture. He also handedover a write-up on GST which had all the necessary

Mr. Salmanu K. K., the Asst. General Manager ofSecurities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)

has visited our campus on 6 October 2017 andinteracted with the students of MBA Sem. I anddelivered a talk on the topic "Indian Securities market:A Regulatory Perspective". The SEBI is the regulatorfor the securities market in India. During his talk, hediscussed how the Indian Securities market haveevolved over the period of time and the need ofregulator to regulate this market. The objectives andhistory of SEBI was also discussed during the lecture.

A Talk by Mr. C. Gurunathan

Mr. C. Gurunathan, the Associate Manager(Business Development) of Bombay Stock

Exchange visited our campus on 6 September 2017to deliver a talk on "Sustainable stock markets: Keyrole in promoting responsible investment". During histalk, he discussed about different options currentlyavailable in the securities market and enlightened thestudents with the practical approach on the tradingof securities. His talk also touched on the risks andopportunities that lies ahead for students in securitiesmarket.
