Euclid
Haley,Casey,
&Mason H.
Father of Geometry
Interesting Facts
• Nobody knows anything about Euclid’s life or death other than that he lived when Ptolemy ruled.
Euclid of Alexandria was a Greek
mathematician.
He is responsible for obtuse and acute angles, planes, lines,
segments, rays, etc.
He is responsible for the geometric rules we follow today.
Euclid’s
Postulates
Number 1
A straight line segment can be drawn by joining any two points
E X A M P L E
N U M B E R O N E
Number 2
E X A M P L E
N U M B E R T W O
Any straight line segment can be
extended indefinitely in a
straight line
Number 3
Given any straight line segment, a circle can be drawn with the segment
as the radius, and an endpoint as the center.
E X A M P L E
N U M B E R T H R E E
Number 4
All right angles are congruent.
E X A M P L
E
N U M B E R F O U R
Number 5(The parallel postulate)
If two lines intersect a third so that the inner
angles on one side equal less than
two right angles, then the two lines
must intersect each other eventually.

N U M B E R F I V E
