While working at Marcel Wanders Studio, I was critical on several projects including the conceptual phase of the mondrian doha. One aspect that I was influential on was the graphic pattern library. I designed patterns that will be incorporated into the hotel’s key features. pattern library for mondrian doha

I chose to examine and create an installation inspired by the Parc de Bercy, a park that was divided into three major experiences. These experiences were then represented in string.

Site at Opening

OpeningCommunal Retreat launches on site in Leh and greenery is planted to revive the land. Only accommodates six guests for enlightenment.

Year 1In the previous season, the guests were able to construct two of the individual exoskeletons. Resort can now accommodate eight guests.

Year 2The summer prior yielded four exoskeletons and winter festivals have begun to adopt the grounds. Resort can now acquire ten guests.

Year 8The site of the retreat is completed and guests begin construction on the amphitheater. Twenty individuals can visit.

Year 10Amphitheater is finished and twenty guests make pilgrimage in the summer. Winters are thriving with community and culture.

The concept was to design an off-grid eco-resort in Leh, India. The focus of my resort was rejuvenation, allowing the resort to grow over time with providing development for both the individual and the community. The resort was seasonal allowing for growth and development of the individual in summer and the Ladakh community in fall.

The Communal Retreat employs a septic system for gray water and water is filtered back into the Earth. Photovoltaic panels on the south and eastern roofs allow for energy to be stored in the lounge and social space.

Plumbing and Electricity Systems

The communal hub of the rejuvenation project is central located within the premises. The communal space is divided into three main functions: eat, sleep, cleanse. The most important is centralized and focused toward sleep. The social space (depicted on right) allows for communal development which the individual cocoons lack.

We assembled into groups and faced with the challenge of redesigning/branding a local vinery and their restaurant within 48 hours. Our concept incorporated a synergy of their two specialities and embraced improvement.

The long bar concept is about luxury, glam, and spectacle. This scheme includes a palate of black and gold, button tufting, and crystals to complete the look. (Rendering done by in house renderer)

This includes the rendering (done by in house renderer), the floor plan, and inspiration images. We used a garden concept to portray fresh, clean, and natural, all key features of the brand.
