ENGINEERINGOur curriculum emphasizes analysis, synthesis and design. Co-operative education is available in all programs after first year.

Our $112-million, 300,000 square-foot Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation (CEI) features state-of-the-art classrooms, dynamic research laboratories and collaborative spaces to give you real-world experience.

Earning a UWindsor engineering degree will help you make the world a better place in so many rewarding ways.

NURSINGNursing is the science of applying knowledge, the technical aspects of practice, and the art of establishing a caring relationship. Our collaborative, four-year honours BScN program will prepare you for a career in nursing with extensive clinical work, which begins in first year. You may also gain experience as a peer mentor or research assistant.

Potential nursing roles may include being a clinical practitioner, administrator, educator or researcher. A nurse may practise in such settings as a hospital, clinic, home or industry.

PATHWAY PROGRAMNEED ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY?International students who do not meet the English language proficiency requirement may be accepted into their program on the condition they complete the English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) before starting their degree.

ELIP is available to both undergraduate and graduate students who need to meet language proficiency requirements for admission.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE IMPROVEMENT

PROGRAM• Offered by the Centre for English Language

Development (CELD), this Pathway Program + conditional admission to an academic program is a great study plan.

• There are five (5) levels.

• Each ELIP level is 12 weeks; intensive, full-time programs.

• Classes are offered each semester, and all year.

• Programs are available to graduate and undergraduate students.

• Successful completion of ELIP 3 meets University of Windsor English proficiency requirements for undergraduate and graduate admissions.

• Each level builds upon the previous by developing and expanding on reading and listening comprehension, as well as, oral and written communication for academic success.

• Web-enhanced learning and innovative use of technology used in class instruction.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English to be considered for admission. This can be demonstrated in the following ways:

1. A minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or

2. A minimum score of 60 on the Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL); or

3. A minimum score of 60 on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE); or

4. A minimum overall score of 176 on the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or the Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE); or

5. Successful completion of the University of Windsor’s English Language Improvement Program (ELIP)* (level III) with a minimum final grade of 75%; or

6. A minimum score of 85 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB); or

7. A minimum score of 220 with a T.W.E. 4.5 on the Computer-based Test, 83 with an essay score of 20 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (T.O.E.F.L.); or

8. Receive a minimum of five semester transfer credits based on work completed at a recognized English-speaking University. (Normally, students must have at least one term of full-time study.); or

9. Receive a minimum of one year of transfer credit based on work completed at a non-university post-secondary institution with an overall transfer average of B; or

10. Have completed all secondary or post-secondary education in English speaking countries such as the United Kingdom, West Indies and other countries as specified by the Office of the Registrar; or

11. Can demonstrate that they have completed three years of full-time secondary or post-secondary study in a school where the language of instruction is English (e.g., in a British, Canadian, American or Australian Curriculum or an international diploma like the International Baccalaureate) and can demonstrate English proficiency. In some cases an English proficiency test may still be required; or

12. Applicants who do not satisfy the above requirements and wish exemption must provide the Office of the Registrar with a letter detailing the reasons for their appeal and include a letter of recommendation from their Secondary School principal or designate. The Registrar (or designate) will assess the request for exemption of this requirement.

Note: The University reserves the right to require applicants with an English Language Proficiency score disparate from their academic English prerequisite achievement to present further evidence of proficiency.

BRITISH-PATTERNED EDUCATIONFive Passes on the General Certificate of Education including two at the Advanced or, four passes on the General Certificate of Education, including three at the Advanced Level. Two Advanced Supplementary (AS) Level courses may by substituted for an Advanced Level Course. Applicants who receive a “C” grade in final GCE Advanced level examinations will be considered for transfer credit for those courses that have been assessed as equivalent to specified or unspecified University of Windsor courses and are relevant to the student’s academic program. No transfer credit will be granted for Advanced Subsidiary level examinations. (Maximum credit 6 semester courses)

CHINESE NATIONAL CURRICULUMSenior High School Graduation Diploma and Chinese University Entrance Examination (NCEE/Gao Kao) if available. Six Senior Level academic courses.

INDIAN CURRICULUM All India Senior School Certificate (awarded by CBSE), Indian School Certificate (awarded by CISCE) or Intermediate/Pre-University/Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary School Certificate (State Boards). Six Senior Level academic courses.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATEApplicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum overall score of 24, and passes in a minimum of 6 subjects including at least three courses at the Higher Level will be considered for admission to the University of Windsor. Applicants who are also completing a provincial or national high school program have the option of being considered for admission on the basis of the high school program. Applicants whose native language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English subject to the University of Windsor policy.
