Message from the President’s Desk

Greetings Members of the International Alchemy Guild,

I would first like to thank Ursula Wortham for working on our bulletin while in the middle of hurricane Matthew. I am grateful for all her help and time she puts into running the bulletin and gathering material for the future alchemy journal.

It has been a while since the last Alchemy Guild Bulletin, so I would like to get you all caught up on what is going on. I have been receiving a lot of great ideas for the Guild and I have been looking over them and seeing how they may help the Guild and improve the membership experience. Here are some updates on the current projects for the Guild.

For those who are not able to attend the Spagyricus Institute and receive hands-on training with Robert Allen Bartlett, we now offer a 3-month video rental on Vimeo. This is a three part video series designed to educate regarding the herbal, plant, and mineral works in alchemy. It is a video of an actual class lecture that examines the abiding mystery surrounding Alchemy.

Rocky Mountain Chapter of IAG

We are excited to get started as Co-Presidents of the Rocky Mountain International Alchemy Guild Chapter. David and I’s vision for the future is to reach out to seekers who want an interactive experience as they further their learning in the Hermetic Arts. We will be doing lab workings under the guidance of many masters within the Alchemical community. We see the Church of the Emerald Tablet as an important part of the Chapter Meeting Forum as we develop the spiritual component of Alchemy. We look forward to this new beginning for the Chapter.

ChaptersI am currently working on a formalized chapter meeting format. There will be an opening and closing to meeting. There will also be some ritual added. We will also be providing materials to the President(s) for an educational program for members to work together on.

We also want to ensure that members requesting chapters are capable of doing so. We will be including prerequisites that must be completed before a chapter can be started. We want the Alchemy Guild to provide an experience to those attending by ensuring that our future chapter presidents are confident and competent to hold chapter meetings.

While we are updating our chapter meetings we are updating the Skype meetings as well. The goal of the Skype meetings were to provide a place for members all over the World to meet and discuss alchemy. We realize not everyone can attend a chapter meeting or have enough people to start a chapter so we wanted to have another place for our members. Until we update the format the Skype meetings the meetings for the rest of 2016 are cancelled.

One of our members and the newest teacher for the alchemy study program, Benjamin Turale, has started a new alchemy group in London. He has setup a meetup.com page where those interested in getting together to help promote a future chapter there. He is giving a short lecture October 30, 2016. Follow this link for details: http://www.meetup.com/alchemy-london/

Leadership Changes We also had some leadership changes within the Guild. The Dutch chapter is now run by Marcelle Lagendijk. I am thankful for Marcelle for stepping up and continuing forward with the Dutch chapter. I want to thank Peter for all the help he has provided to the alchemy guild.

I have also stepped down as the President of the Rocky Mountain Chapter here in Denver Colorado. The new Rocky Mountain Chapter presidents are Renee Lewis and David Hill. I started this chapter 5 years ago and it officially became a part of the Guild 3 years ago as Le Lion Rouge. Since taking over the Guild it my time is been split between the two. By passing the torch it will allow for energy to be focused on the chapter and it allows me to focus on running the Alchemy Guild.

The Alchemy JournalWe missed our Spring/Summer deadline for the journal. We have been sifting through the submissions and trying to bring it all together. Currently, we have our first round of papers that will go into the Fall/ Winter Journal. They have been submitted to our Coordinator, Ursula Wortham, from our Florida Chapter. She is working with Ben Williams who is the publisher at Laughing Lion Publishing. Ben currently publishes the Rocky Mountain Mason quarterly magazine at http://www.rockymountainmason.com/ . Once the journal is ready for publication, I will send you instructions on how members may download their free copy.

Dues and DonationsThere are no plans to raise dues for the International Alchemy Guild membership. We like to keep costs down, however, money is required to run an international organization. Many members donate their time and efforts to running the guild. There are no paid members of the Alchemy Guild. However, the projects our members request cost money. If you are in a position to comfortably donate to help improve the membership experience, please visit our site and leave a donation. Any amount will help http://alchemyguild.memberlodge.org/donate.

Alchemy Conferences

July 2016 we held the Rocky Mountain Alchemy Conference in Colorado. This was held over two days. We had people from around the World attend our conference. We saw alchemy from spiritual, psychological, and physical points of view. We experienced meditations, history, laboratory applications, and Steve Burkle brought his handmade mats to demonstrate the Shemhamforash.

Our videographer is still editing the video, but should be done in about a month. Once finished it will be put up for sale on vimeo. The money raised from selling the videos will be used to finance the next alchemy conference.

I announced that our next conference will be in 2018 and we will hold it Prague, Czech Republic. I am currently getting quotes from hotels and making sure they can accommodate us. I will be announcing additional speakers in the future. For now, keep up to date on our events page at http://alchemyguild.memberlodge.org/event-2317389
