The Republic of Belarus is a picturesque

country located in the very heart of Eastern

Europe. Its immediate neighbors are

Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and

Ukraine. The territory of Belarus is 207.6

thousand square kilometers with a

population over 9.5 million. Due to its

central position on the map Belarus has

historically been the crossroads for various

trade routes. These circumstances helped

to create a unique diversity of nationalities

inhabiting its lands today. Belarusians are

known for their tolerance, patience to

other religions, positive views and

hospitality.

Nowadays Belarus is becoming more and

more frequent on the tourists must visit lists.

Especially due to relaxed visa requirements

that allow visitors up to 30 days of stay.

Belarus is the land of lakes and rivers, that

attracts tourists for its beauty of nature. A

large territory in Belarus is occupied by

forests, rivers and lakes. It is not for nothing

that it is called the “lungs of Europe."

Belarus is a fast-developing country and

industries such as mechanical engineering,

metalworking, woodworking, chemical and

power contribute to its economy. But today

Belarus is more often called the “Silicone

Valley” of Eastern Europe. Belarussian High-

Tech Park, created 10 years ago is the home

to over 170 companies, including EPAM, and

to the creators of the World of Tanks and The

Viber App.

Sport plays an integral role in the lifestyle of

Belarusian people and is one of the priorities

of state policy. High achievements at

international competitions, a great number of

Olympic champions including Igor Makarov

in Judo, the availability of world-class sports

facilities and strong support of physical

education helps Belarus to be easily

recognized on the world stage. II European

Games were held in Minsk, the capital of

Belarus, in June 2019.

Grodno

Grodno is arguably the prettiest city inBelarus with a European flavor, as it islocated just few miles away from Polandand Lithuania. Grodno is one of theoldest cities on the territory of modernBelarus. Its historical heritage dates to1128.

Grodno rightfully attracts visitors withbeautiful architecture, centuries oldchurches and cathedrals, castles and itsbeautiful nature.

Grodno is a city of contrasts, wheremodern buildings are adjacent to oldlow-rise buildings, and it is worth todeviate a little to the right or left, as thevibrant city life gives way to a picture ofthe natural landscape. But not only thesights of Grodno attract tourists. For thelovers of nature and active sports onecan find himself kayaking along thebanks of Augustov Canal or relaxing atone of the health resorts or farmsteadsthat pop-up all-around Grodno Region.For the fans of gastronomy, bars,restaurants and cafes of Grodno willdelight any critic with an exquisite cuisineand culinary masterpieces.

Venue

“Yurtov Cup” Tournament 2020 will be heldat Grodno Ice Sports Palace. It’s one of thebiggest and modern sporting venue inBelarus, where the most important sportand cultural events are held.

Located in the city center, the arena iseasily accessible by all means oftransportation.

The main part of the Sport Complex is ahockey arena with an area of 30x60 meters.The stands with a capacity of 2500spectators are arranged in the form of anamphitheater around the arena. The upperlevel of the stands around the perimeter ofthe hall is surrounded by a gallery, whichprovides for the possibility of arrival ofwheelchair users. The hall is equipped witha guest box and commentary booths. Thereis an electronic, four-way display under thedome of the complex.

Venue

It is possible to transform the ice box into

a platform for playing sports, martial arts,

weightlifting, gymnastics, boxing, as well

as a stage for concerts and other

spectacular events.

The Ice Sports Palace has an 18x36

meter gym for volleyball, basketball, and

tennis . There is a fitness center with

rooms for strength training, aerobics and

choreography , a medical rehabilitation

center.

Training Camp

Training Camp will be held on May 11-

13th at the Grodno Ice Sport Complex.

Athens Olympic Champion Igor Makarov

and the participant of Peking Olympic

Games Constantine Semenov will

conduct the practice during the training

sessions.

The tournament is held with an organizationalhelp from Sport and Tourism Department of theGrodno Region, Belarusian Judo FederationPA, Grodno Region Organizational Unit ofDYNAMO Belarusian Sports and PhysicalTraining Society, Grodno City ExecutiveCommittee, Grodno Region Judo and SamboFederation PA.

The Belarusian Sports andPhysical Training Society "DYNAMO" wasfounded on April 18, 1923.The first task ofthe Association was the development ofphysical education in law enforcementofficers.

"DYNAMO" – the most powerful sportsorganization in the country, which hasmore than 83,000 participants. BFSO"DYNAMO" occupies a leading place inthe sport of high achievements andpreparation of promising reserve; makes asignificant contribution to the treasury ofmedals, won by athletes of our state at theOlympic games, Championships, cups,world and European Championships.

From the very beginning of "DYNAMO" andto this day the main tasks are thepreparation of the fire and physicaltraining for law enforcement officers andthe development of mass sports. Inaddition, one of the main goals of"Dynamo" has always been and will be thedevelopment of youth sports.

The Department of Sport and Tourism of theGrodno Region Executive Committee is aterritorial government body that ensures theimplementation of state policy in the field ofphysical culture, sports and tourism in theGrodno region. It was originally established in1939.

• The regional administration systemincludes: departments of physicaleducation, sports and tourism of theregional executive committees;departments of physical education, sportsand tourism of the administrations ofGrodno city; educational and sportsinstitutions, travel agencies and otherorganizations. The main tasks of theregional administration are:

• development and implementation of theregional targeted programs for thedevelopment of physical education,sports and tourism;

• implementation of measures tostrengthen the material and technicalbase for physical education, sports andtourism;

• carrying out recreational and sportsevents, competitions and training camps;

• the development of physical culture,sports and tourism in organizations;

• development and implementation of newdomestic and international tourist routes.

Grodno is the city with very low security

risks, nevertheless the organizers will

cooperate with the department of

internal affairs of Grodno region to

provide the ultimate security for the

duration of the tournament.

Promo/ Media

Yurtov Cup is an internationalcompetition that first took place in1984.

The level of competition is growingby each year. Just in 2019 YurtovCup hosted over 400 participantsfrom 15 countries.

The tournament will have a fullmedia coverage, including a livestream on YouTube. Written pressand photographers will be invited tocapture the event.

VISA-FREE

Tips for visa-free visitors of Grodno:

• Foreign visitors can enter Belarus visa-free for 10 days if they plan to visit the territory of a special tourist and recreational park “Augustow Canal”, and its adjacent territories.

• The Grodno region is fully included into the territory of the park "Augustow Canal".

One can enter Belarus through crossing Belarus State Border at the checkpoints:

• Bruzgi (Kuznitsa Belostokskaya) which borders with Poland; at the checkpoint Privalka(Raigardas) which borders with Lithuania.

• Grodno Railway Station and Grodno Airport

In order to enter the visa-free territory, a foreign visitor should possess the document, which is issued by Belarusian tourist agency. In order to obtain the document a foreign visitor needs to:

• address Belarusian travel agency which has the right to issue such documents;

• obtain a tourist service which should be booked in advance;

• receive a confirmation approving a foreign traveler’s right to enter Belarus visa-free;

A foreign national must present the following documents:

• Valid passport or an equivalent identity document;

• Travel medical insurance with the minimum coverage of €10,000. The travel insurance must be valid in Belarus;

• Migration card (issued upon arrival);

• Document allowing foreign nationals (individuals or groups of tourists) to visit the Tourism and Recreation Zone of the Augustow Canal Park.

* Foreign nationals may visit any place in Belarus within 30 days of their visa-free stay, if they arrive and leave the country only through Minsk National Airport.

** Belarus’ visa-free travel rules for foreign visitors do not apply to people flying to Belarus from or to Russia (these flights are considered internal and are not subject to border control).

*** Foreign citizens who plan to spend more than five business days in Belarus must register with the police indicating the address they are staying. If foreign visitors stay in a hotel, hostel, health resort or another facility of collective accommodation, the management of the above-mentioned facilities shall be responsible for the registration with the police.
