The above diagram is a rough structure of the yard; here every container is stacked on the bases

of the type of container and its size. A hazardous container is placed in one particular location, reefers in another location etc,

so every container has its own position of stacking for easy movement and stacking.

The alphabets in the above diagram A, B, C, D, E, F stands for

A- Alpha

B-Bombay

C-Cochin

D- Doctor

E- Elephant

The odd numbers indicate 20feet containers and the even numbers indicate the

40feet containers.

The containers to be exported are stacked at 2A, 3A, 2B, 3A because it is closer

to the berth and easier for loading. The exports and imports of ICDs are stacked at yard called 2R and R yard for easy loading and unloading

for the movement of rails.

Even for stacking of empty containers yard 2R and R are used.

OOG (Out of gauge) containers are stacked in a specific container yard called

OOG yard. The containers

with more weights are stocked in alpha and as the weight of the

container decreases the stacking moves toward father.
