Oral and maxillofacial surgery training programme
Melbourne, Australia
Limited tenure posts
The University of Melbourne School of Dental Science, in conjunction with the Royal Melbourne Hospital and associated hospitals, conducts a training programme in oral and maxillofacial surgery. This programme is approved by the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons as suitable training for the RACDS (OMS) exit examination. '
Within this structure, opportunities will become available on an annual basis, commencing February 1994, for the acceptance of trainees into the supervised programme for a one-year period. The successful candidates can expect to broaden their experience by undertaking a service role in addition to participating in the postgraduate educational activities of the programme, including its associated hospitals.
It is envisaged that suitable candidates would be engaged in a formal postgraduate training programme in their home state or country and that their parent institution would acknowledge as part of or incorporate this one-year term into their requirements for training.
Supervised surgical experience will be obtained in most areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery as part of the service component and attendance at tutorials, seminars, surgical audit and clinical review sessions is expected.
Remuneration is available in return for the service component and it is expected that relatively low-cost accommodation can be found.
Requirements include the possession of an appropriate dental degree and fluency in the English language. For further enquiries: Associate Professor B. A. Levant Department of Oral Surgery Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne 711 Elizabeth Street Melbourne, Australia, 3000
