Monaco is a worldwide recognized place for excellence in various fields such as tourism, leisure, art, and urbanism. Thus, maintaining the high quality of the previous meetings duringthis seventh Symposium of the International Society for Exercise and Immunology was ourfirst goal. The Principality is also the theatre of major international sports events as well as theheadquarters of several international sports federations. For these reasons, having the 7th ISEISymposium organized in Monaco is a unique opportunity to have cross section of opinionsand interactions between a diverse audience. This diversity is the essence itself of ISEI, sinceour society gathers different colleagues from basic immunology to sports epidemiology. Inspite of these different backgrounds, all of us are very motivated in maintaining athletes ashealthy as possible. This goal is also strongly shared by the International Association of Athletics Federations andits Medical and Antidoping Commission. This is the reason why IAAF brings a very stronglogistic and financial support to the 7th ISEI Symposium, from the very early stages. Our scientific board designed a symposium program that mixes fundamental sessions such as“IL-6 and iron metabolism”, or “stress proteins” and clinical sessions like “immunologicalmanagement of athletes” or “immune aspects of exercise-induced asthma”. So, very logicallywe decided to entitle this 7th ISEI symposium: “From Basic Sciences to Athletes Health”.We sincerely hope you’ll enjoy this scientific program and the free time you’ll spend inMonaco as well.
