ADAPTATION OF SPIRITIST CENTRES TO THE PRESENT TIME

The proposals for planning and administrative/philosophic

organisation of the institutions are intensifying in the Spiritist Movement. There are many of Allan Kardec’s considerations about the Parisian Society of Spiritist Studies and the functioning of Spiritist groups, included in “Revue Spirite”, The Mediums’ Book and in Posthumous Works.

We highlight an appropriate commentary of the Codifier about the compromise of the incarnated: “What characterises the Spiritist revelation is its origin is divine, its initiative of Spirits and its development fruit of the work of man.”1 In the automatic writing works of Francisco Cândido Xavier many orientations are found about Spiritist practices. The Spiritual information about the commitment of people with planning and execution are explicit.

In the last years, some projects based on the document “Divulge”, of the Campaign for Divulgation of Spiritism and others campaigns have been developed by the International Spiritist Council.

The actions due to the orientations in the documents of the ISC as Courses and Seminars aiming at the Preparation of Workers, in whole, represent a significant effort for the improvement of Spiritist Centres of the Spiritist Movement, based upon positions grounded in the Codification, coherent with the context of our times and with the mission defined in The Spirits’ Book: ”instruct and enlighten man, opening a New Era for the regeneration of Humanity”.2

EUROPEAN DEPARTMENT OF COORDINATION The Spiritist Movement in Europe continues with a lot of intense activities as summarised in this

edition and in the previous edition of the ISC bulletin. Just to mention a few examples, there has been a seminar aimed at the formation of spiritist

collaborators in Stuttgart, on 28th February 2009, organised by The German Spiritist Union and facilitated by Gorete Newton, from Switzerland, and Charles Kempf, from France.

The ISC again participated at the Salon du Livre, in Paris, from 13th to 18th March, under the coordination of Claudia Bonmartin, who counted upon help from various spiritists from France, from Elsa Rossi who came from London, Spartak Severin from Belorus and Jussara Korngold from the United States. All of the spiritist volumes in French language were exposed and helped greatly with the divulgation of the doctrine. Contacts were made with the book publishing market in France and in Europe, which will help to ensure the objective of Edicei on divulgation of spiritist books. Europe, more precisely the Belgian Spiritist Union is getting prepared to also host, in the city of Liege, the next ISC

general assembly, from 4th to 5th June 2009, followed by a seminar of formation of spiritist collaborators (from 5th to 7th June 2009), open to all. For more details, see the preliminary seminar program on the following page and for more practical information please turn to Belgium’s page.

Also in preparation for the lecturer Divaldo Pereira Franco, in May/June, and the next series of medical spiritist congresses in October, there will also be spiritist encounters in Eastern Europe with ISC participation, The first of them will occur in September in Minsk. The next ISC European Coordination Department meeting is forecasted for the beginning of October.

In the website of the Spiritist Encyclopaedia,

www.spiritisme.net, the first 30 years of the Revue Spirite journals are already available for downloading. The Revue Spirite was edited by ISC in an edition commemorating 150 years, coordinated between several languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Finally, we remind you that the subscriptions are open for the 6th Worldwide Spiritist Congress, in

The Department has been structuring and consolidating the Schedule of Spiritist activities of support to the South American spiritist movements. It sent a message of greetings to the Spiritist Women: Prayer of the Woman from Meimei.

In May a seminar will be held in Bolivia, sponsored by the ISC to support the Bolivian Spiritist Federation (FEBOL).

In July we shall meet with the South American spiritist leaders during the second Course of Training of Spiritist Workers organised by ISC in Brasilia at the FEB headquarters.

On 28th March 2009 Praça da Sé, in São Paulo, hosted the Third Public Act in Defence of Life. Nearly five thousand people enthusiastically followed the speeches and artistic presentations. The event was organized by Dr. Marília de Castro, Coordinator of the State Committee of the National Movement in Defence of Life of São Paulo. Several representatives of civil society were present. Among others, Dom Odilo Pedro Scherer, Cardinal Archbishop of Sao Paulo, Federal Deputy, Mr Jorge Tadeu, Antonio Cesar de Perri Carvalho as director and representative of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation, the ex-Senator Heloísa Helena; Lenise Garcia, president of National Movement in Defence of Life, Marlene Rossi Severino Nobre, president of the

Regional Commissions of National Federative

Council(NFC) re-start in April Within the schedule of activities of FEB's

National Federative Council, in April the Northeast and South Regional Committees meetings will occur. At the beginning of the month, on 3rd, 4th and 5th, the Northeast Regional Commission will be held in the city of Aracaju, supported by the Spiritist Federation the state of Sergipe. The theme of the meeting of the leaders is "Federal Management." Simultaneously, meetings amongst Specific Areas will be developed. The Southern Regional Committee Meeting is scheduled for 24th, 25th and 26th of April in Curitiba, with the theme of the leaders’ meeting being: "Bases for a better orientation of Spiritist Literature."

“Centennial Project of Chico Xavier” is already in full action.

Definitions of the Federal National Council of FEB CFN on the general character of the “Centennial Project of Chico Xavier”:

Goal: Emphasize the work of Chico Xavier and contribute to the preservation of his memory;

Actions: a) Realizing the Third Brazilian Spiritist

FRENCH SPIRITIST COUNCIL

The French Spiritist Council (CSF) will

organise, on 2nd and 3rd of May 2009 in Strasburg, a seminar for the formation of spiritist collaborators, about the theme “Obsession and Disobsession”. This seminar happens as a continuity of the previous one, the theme of which was Mediumship and which took place in November 2008 in Douai. The theme will be dealt with following a participative organisation. It includes introduction, definition of obsession, disobsession work, spiritual help and self-improvement in order to protect oneself from obsession.

Regional Encounter of Spiritist groups in Tours.

A meeting between spiritist centres of the Western region of France took place in the city of Sorigny on 7th February, under sponsorship of French Spiritist Council and thanks to the active participation of Jeremie Philippe and of Mara Chirpatris.

The main room was used for the

interventions of the representatives of participating groups whilst another smaller room permitted the work of evangelisation of children, carried out by Marine Philippe and Valerie, which benefited from the orientations given by Claudia Werdine at the CSF Simposium in Nantes in 2008.

More than 30 people met from six local groups, plus other spiritist people who are still isolated in the region. Brigitte Buot, who returned recently from a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo, gave a description of her journey and of the encounter with spiritist sympathisers in that country.

New affiliated groups to the French Spiritist Council: four new groups became affiliated to the French Spiritist Council, which now totals seventeen member groups and six more sympathisers groups.

The growing success of the website of the Spiritist Encyclopaedia – www.spiritisme.net

The Spiritist Encyclopaedia website, kept by the French Spiritist Council and by the Francophone Spiritist Movement (LMSF), contains several hundreds of books, magazines, photos and

articles (free from copyrights) The frequency of visits to the website has been increasing constantly.

It had more than 2 million visits in 2008, and 426 thousand in the first two months of 2009. There are more than 4000 different internet surfers who, each week, perform download of about 6000 files. More than 43000 internet surfers have already connected to this website. This only shows without doubt the rising interest of the public in Spiritist information.

Salon du Livre in Paris Members of the French Spiritist Council were present at the stand of EDICEI during the Salon du Livre, from 12th to 17th March Congress of Spirituality and Medicine: On 24th and 25th October 2009, in the city of Toulouse, the French Spiritist Council will organize, a Congress of Medicine and Spirituality, with the LMSF and the EMA-I,. The work of dissemination carried out during

last year (and) by the brothers Jesus Manuel (Monterrey, Nuevo Leon), Jorge Camargo(Mexico, DF) and Dennis Ferreira (Brazil) in different locations of Mexico is finally rendering good results: more and more groups, above all new ones, are becoming affiliated to the MSH, but also are committing to a formal study of Spiritism.

A pace of continuous visits to the institutions

of the province in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mante, Tamaulipas, Villa Alta, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Ve-racruz and Cancun, Quintana Roo are being maintained.

Lecture at the Unity Senter On 8th February 2009 GEAAK participated in

“Open House” at the Unity Senter with a 45 minutes lecture in Norwegian on the theme “What is Spiritism?”. The direction of Unity Senter reiterated the participation invitation for next the Open House in August.

On 13th January 2009 – Mr. Rescala, president of FEPERU, started the year with a Public Conference: “The Evolutionary Process through light of the Spiritist Doctrine”, at the facilities of “Amalia Domingo Soler” Spiritist Centre.

This conference was conducted at the request of the Spiritist House as a start to the Course of "Introduction to the Spiritist Doctrine" 2009, in the presence of representatives of the different CCEEs of Lima.

On 6th February 2009 FEPERU was present in the city of Ica to promote the Spiritist Study Group "Jesus’ Workers" delivering to all members of this institution the Informative Bulletin of the FEPERU "The Messenger of Light” and also the brochure “Spiritism: a new era for Humanity "from the ISC and the book “Spiritism in its simplest expression of Allan Kardec."

3 DVDs were delivered with the following

titles: “The Family”, ”The Gospel According to Spiritism” (both to sister Gloria Insfran from Paraguay) and “Three interviews” (to brother Edwin Bravo from Guatemala and a member of ISC).

PERU A delegation from the MSH attended the

Second Workshop of Spiritism in Havana, Cuba. A consequence of this meeting was the visit to this country of the brother Thiesen from FEB, on 28th and 29th of March. In February this year we had the opportunity to visit in Sao Paulo-Brazil the facili-ties of FEESP( Sao Paulo Spiritist Federation), from the AEE and some centres and Spiritist health institutions in the metropolitan region of Campinas.

We watched a Radio Boa Nova interview with

brother Jetter, organised by our brother Washing-ton Fernandez and took this opportunity to talk about Spiritism in Mexico. We also had the oppor-tunity to greet and listen to a conference by our brother Divaldo Franco.

for the third time On 15th May we will have the immense

pleasure to host for the third time Divaldo Franco in Varsovia. The theme will be “Mediumship”. This time Divaldo is going to explain the theme mediumship to Polish spiritists.

It seems that during the lecture the book

“Happy Life” from Divaldo Joanna de Angelis (which has already been translated into Polish) will be launched.

Electronic Library

We have started a project of a virtual spiritist library. Our goal is to save and make available to the Polish reader the spiritist books edited in Poland before the War.

The first work which has been scanned is

one of the articles in a Polish magazine “Hejnal” that was edited in the city of Cieszyn in the Nineteen Thirties. The next works which are being prepared are Leon Denis’ books and the books of the famous scientist Julian Ochorowicz.

GOD, LOVE AND CHARITY SPIRITIST FRATERNITY

In 2008, the FEDACE (Fraternity Spiritist

God, Love and Charity) of Panama, Republic of Panama - Central America, continued to carry out their work of evangelization and social as-sistance care, with commitment and devotion, culminating in December with the completion of a nice Christmas party which entertained all mothers of the PAMJA Program (Assistance Program Maternal Joanna de Angelis) and their families, children and adolescents of CICA (Child and Youth Caravan Clara de Asis) and adults of CAFA (Caravan Francisco Assisi).

Baskets of food were distributed to 100

families and toys for all children, in addition to a cultural event in which there was much joy and Christmas spirit The annual programme of stud-ies was carried out in an atmosphere of doc-trinal discipline, formality and growing interest from the people who frequent the Spiritist cen-tre and active supporters of Spiritism. Ministers discussed Studies about the responsibility of workers in the Spiritist Centre.

In the activities regarding the divulgation

of the doctrine, the most important event of the year was the workshop on the Scientific Evi-dence for the Survival of the Soul, which was dictated by Mr. Ney Peres Prieto (Co-founder of the Instituto Brasileiro de Investigaciones Bio-Psycho-Physical and the Peres National Insti-tute of Restructural Existential Therapy). The event occurred in the Auditorium of the Univer-sidad Latina of Panama (headquarters), for 450 people, spiritists and supporters on Satur-

“Seminar: Preparation of Workers for Application of Laying-on of Hands healing”

The British Union of Spiritist Societies –

BUSS, offers every 6 months Seminars prepared for the British public and others who speak English. On 21st March, at the Quakers Meeting Hall, in

South London, a seminar was held to prepare people to apply “Laying on of hands” healing. The first seminar occurred in March 2008 and the second in November 2008. This is the third Seminar of the series. Twenty five people attended the event.

“You and Peace Movement in London” will be launched in the UK in June. BUSS will host Divaldo Franco for a series of lecturers in the UK. 11th June – Lecture in Cambridge 12th June – Lecture in Surbiton, near Kingston-upon-Thames.
