Purpose This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge
and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of
enterprise and industry contexts.
Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising,
implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They
use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or
enterprise requirements.
They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and
identify, analyse and synthesize information from a variety of sources.
The design of this course is for international students only.
Entry Requirements Students must have all the following:
• be over 18 years of age at the time of course commencement
• secure an appropriate visa that allows them to study in an Australian
Registered Training Organisation prior to course commencement
• supply their own laptop with Microsoft Office software e.g. Office 365
Personal that includes Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• supply their own laptop that is capable of connecting to WIFI and ability to
surf common search engines such as Google
• have subscribed to a paid Internet services provider in Australia or have
access to an Internet services network.
Academic Requirements or
Qualification Pre-Requisites:
There is no academic requirement for this course.
To gain entry to this course, students must have successfully completed year 12 or
secondary studies in the applicant’s home country equivalent to an Australian Year
11* or 12 qualification (*Subject to the country Assessment Level) or completed a
Certificate IV in the same Training Package or an Australian nationally recognised
VET courses of the same level or higher of a different training package.
English Proficiency Requirements Student applying for this qualification must have a minimum English language
proficiency of IELTS 5.0 (overall band) or an equivalent exam result recognised by
the Ministry of Home Affairs of Australia.

If student does not have IELTS but have equivalent English language proficiency
level then one of the following criteria can be used as a guide but subject at the point
of student application:
• TOEFL iBT test score band of 35 equivalent or above;
• PTE Academic band score 35 equivalent or above;
• Completion of a full-time course in an Australian RTO in a Diploma course
or above;
• Satisfactory completion of the ESL course /English language course or
satisfactory completion of 4-10 weeks ELICOS from a National ELT
Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) Accredited English Institution with an

Pathways Training Pathway
Students who successfully complete this course may progress onto a range of
Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma courses for which they may be eligible.
Employment Pathway
AICT do not guarantee job placement for students on successful completion of the
course. Historically, indications confirm the increased probability of career
advancement for the majority of students. Examples of potential job opportunities

RPL/Credit All student will be offered Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or mutual
recognition of AQF qualifications prior to enrolment in this program.
Student Needs Student needs are assessed at enrolment as per policy and procedure.
Students complete the enrolment form and submit supporting documentation to
enable AICT to assess whether the course is appropriate for their abilities and student
needs.
Students who have learning needs that cannot be accommodated by AICT and/ or do
not satisfy the entry requirements will be provided guidance to access an external
service/ organisation in their home country where they can develop the required level
of skills/ support.
AICT takes all feasible and reasonable steps to assist students during the course so
they can successfully complete the course within the course schedule and achieve
certificate.
Pre-enrolment information
AICT provides information to students’ pre-enrolment on course demands and
expectations via the Student Handbook and course information available on the
AICT web site.
Orientation
The AICT delivers an orientation to students outlining course requirements,
processes, demands, support services and general information on the first day of
course commencement.

Monitoring course progress & attendance
AICT monitors students course progress and in accordance with the National Code of
Practice 2018 for VET courses, and provides assistance if the student is experiencing
difficulties and not progressing through their course as per the course schedule.
AICT employs a range of support services where appropriate and feasible to support
students learning needs during course delivery.
Access to appropriate support services is provided to assist students to successfully
complete their course within the scheduled duration.
Academic Support
Students who are experiencing difficulties with any aspect of their course are
encouraged to contact their trainer or any other member of staff.
LLN Support
Students who are experiencing language, literacy and numeracy issues during the
course can access support from our trainer.
If the level of support required is out with what the trainer can provide then the AICT
will arrange a referral to external LLN supports services.
Welfare Support
We understand that our students sometimes require extra support to help them cope
with their training course. Sometimes there can be personal issues that impact their
successful course completion. We can assist students in accessing professional
welfare services. Students who are experiencing personal/ welfare issues that are
impacting their studies are encouraged to contact their trainer or any other member of
staff.

communicating information to students, assessing their needs and providing support
services.

Qualification packaging rules This course is based on BSB Business Services Training Package.
Students must successfully complete a total of 12 units of competency to achieve the
qualification. This comprises 4 core units and 8 elective units. The 8 elective units,
are to address the following training package requirements: 4 units must be selected
from Group A, up to additional 4 units may be from Group A or Group B elective
units, or up to 2 units from Diploma or higher from the same training package, or 1
unit from a Diploma of a different training package.
Qualification on exit Student successfully completed this course will be awarded with a nationally
recognised certificate title BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management.
Student only successfully completed part of the course will be awarded with a
nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the units deemed competent.

Client / Target Groups
The target group for this course are students who must have met all of the following requirements
• Wanted to seek employment in leadership and management across a range of industry sectors;
• Wanted to complement their existing skillsets with leadership and management perspectives;
• Has the capacity to provide supporting evidences to be considered eligible to apply for a valid Australian Student
VISA to study in Australia or currently has a valid Australian Student VISA to study in Australia;
• Fluent with English proficiency with an IETLS level of 5.0 (all bands) or equivalent;
• Has unrestricted access to Internet technology such as Skype, WhatsApp, Google, Facebook, WeChat or similar in
their home country;
• Has unrestricted access to telecommunication such as mobile and smart devices in their home country;
• Has had the financial support to study full time and live in Australia for the duration of the course.

The delivery mode for all terms except 2nd term are face to face. The 2nd term is fully online. This is compliant with the
maximum threshold allowed which is 30% as specified in the National Code 2018 for international students.

The course is delivered over 20 hours per week full with the exception of online units, with 2.5 days face to face delivery per
week; 8 hours teaching for 2 days per week and 4 hours teaching for one day per week.

Delivery Arrangement
The units in this course are delivered via a standalone delivery method. Trainers develop students’ knowledge and
understanding of the relationships between different units of competency.
Students are provided with an induction to the course to outline the learning and assessment processes, support services and

other relevant information.
This course is delivered via face to face, online and independent study. Face to face training and assessment takes place at
the AICT training facility, located at Level 2 Office 205 City Central 166 Murray Street Perth WA 6000. Online training and
assessment take places through AICT online portal.
For in class units, text books for the course will be provided to the student. Students will read relevant sections of the
textbooks and undertake tasks in preparation for the assessment in the face to face classes. Students will attend a face to face
classes for each unit as scheduled throughout the course. Students may contact their trainer for support/ assistance outside of
scheduled face to face contact times.
For online units, online units will be released to students at the start of the online term. Student will be required to do the
training and assessment online and an internet service will be required. Student can come to AICT campus to access the free
WIFI or student can go to any public library to access the free WIFI. Please note that AICT does not provide Internet service
for student outside of campus. It is the responsibility of student to ensure such services is available to them. To contact the
trainer for support, online unit student must either email the correct trainer assigned for the unit or make appointment
through AICT Student Support to organise a face to face meeting with a qualified trainer of the subject matter.
Face to face Delivery
The following methodologies are implemented during face to face delivery depending on the subject matter: trainer
presentations and demonstrations, individual tasks, case studies, research, role plays, practical demonstrations and group
work. A variety of presentation methods such as utilising current technology for visual displays, explaining the content
verbally or in writing, as well as either distributing notes, or referring to additional sources and reading materials.
Online Delivery
30% of the course duration is delivered through online delivery mode. AICT uses modern internet technology to support e-
learning and to make available to student using interactive and adaptive methods. This will allow student to acquire skillset
in a self-paced and self-study environment with minimum interaction from the traditional in class trainers and class-room
environment. This is to equip student to accustom to today and future technology to study and achieve the learning outcomes
through e-learning methods and research answers from surfing the internet and internet ready in the 21st century business
environment.
Independent study & assessment outside of scheduled class time
Homework activities will be provided to students. Students will read the learning material to develop knowledge and
understanding. The learning material includes a mixture of theoretical information and tasks. Learning material includes
sufficient information for the students to learn the topic, undertake practice activities and complete tasks. Trainers provide
instructions as to the sections of the learning material that must be reviewed and the activities to be completed each week.
Approximately 4 hours per week will be spent on homework activities.
Students will also undertake their own research on course related topics (industry practices, trends/ characteristics, codes of
practice, organisations entering the market, maintain currency of requirements, workforce requirements, emergent
technologies) to develop knowledge and understanding. Approximately 2 hours per week will be spent on these activities.
This time may include interacting with industry organisations and stakeholders.
Approximately 3 hours will be spent by students each week preparing for in class assessments and undertaking assessments
to be completed in their own time e.g. projects and writing reports.
It should be noted that the above indication of time spent on learning and assessment activities each week are
approximations and may vary at different points of the course. The amount of time Individual students may spend on
activities may vary based on their learning needs and individual contexts.
Students will be expected to undertake activities to develop their English language ability for 3 hours per week. Given that
providing leadership and management is heavily dependent on effective communication skills we recognise this as an
important area of communication knowledge/ skills development.
Trainers will also contact students on a regular basis to provide support and assistance outside of scheduled face to face
classes. During the contact your trainer will provide support and encouragement and discuss:

Delivery Hours
The approximate* delivery hours (volume of learning hours) for this course are as follows:
Face to face classes (term1, term3, term4) = 38 weeks x 20 hours per week = 760 hours
Online classes (term2) = 12 weeks x 20 hours per week = 240 hours
Independent study and assessment outside of class time – 50 weeks x 12 hours per week = 600 hrs
Total course hours: 760+240 + 600 = 1600 hrs
*The course delivery hours are approximate as the amount of time different students spend on independent study and open
book assessments will vary with individual student needs and their own individual context.
The course duration is in accordance with the Australian Qualification Framework recommended duration and volume of
learning for Diploma courses.

Assessment arrangement
The units in this course are assessed via a standalone method.
Training and assessment will take place from the AICT facility which is located at Level 2 Office 205 City Central 166
Murray Street Perth WA 6000. Some assessment tasks will be completed in the student’s own time.
All assessment activities will be conducted by AICT Assessors.

Assessment tasks
Student will perform the required skills as a component of multiple tasks, within a multi-disciplinary team and with
interruptions, difficult clients and unexpected glitches
All the course assessment tasks are created and based on the following:
• Reflect real life work tasks
• Are required to be performed within industry standard timeframes as specified by assessors in relation to each task
• Are assessed using assessment criteria that relate to the quality of work expected by the industry
• Are performed to industry safety requirements as relevant.
• Utilise authentic workplace documentation, resources, equipment and materials
• Require student to work with others as part of a team.

• Involve the use of standard, workplace equipment

Assessment Processes and Policy
The assessment process is implemented in accordance with the AICT Assessment, Access and equity, Academic misconduct
and complaints and appeals processes.
Academic integrity
AICT implements an Academic Integrity policy and procedure. It is the role of the Training Manager and trainer/ assessor to
ensure that academic integrity is maintained in all learning and assessment activities.
Cheating
Cheating is the use of any means to gain an unfair advantage during the assessment process.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the submission of somebody else’s work as your own.
Collusion
Collusion is the presentation by a student of an assignment as his or her own which is in fact the result in whole or in part of
unauthorised collaboration with another person or persons.
If students have been found to have colluded, cheated or plagiarised, there are penalties and processes that are followed.
Students may be penalised by any of the following ways as:
• be reprimanded
• be required to repeat the assessment or complete a new assessment task
• fail all or part of the unit
• have their enrolment cancelled
Support Services and Personnel
AICT has an extensive range of services are available to support student study experience. These are listed and explained in
AICT Student Handbook and can be downloaded from www.aict.wa.edu.au.
AICT SSO (Student Support services) communicate with leaners through face-to-face meeting or AICT SMS (Student
Management System) via email and messaging services. AICT also provides free student portal so student can access most
of their enrolment information 24/7 and update their contact details at all times.
AICT will endeavour to assist student where it can to accommodate anyone with difficulties with Language, Literacy or
numeracy.
AICT is able to provide support to ESL students through its formal English courses and by providing additional support with
its English Teaching staff and Student Services support.
In the event that a student’s needs exceed our skill AICT SS will refer the student to an external support provider e.g. TAFE
or The Reading Writing Hotline

Examples of support student needs by AICT include:
• Creating student support Action Plan with input from student, Trainer and Faculty Head (which is stored in the
student record file)
• Additional coaching sessions
• Reasonable adjustment of assessment
• Additional LLN support
• Course duration extensions
• Provision of learning and assessment material in alternative or additional forms if there is a learning or access
barrier
• Assistance with a particular disability as indicated during their pre-enrolment interview (e.g. hearing/ visual aids
etc.)
