Transport for NSW Intersection improvements on Princes Highway and Railway Road, Sydenham End of work | April 2020 The new dual right turn lanes and dedicated left turn lane has helped ease congestion at the intersection Transport for NSW has recently completed improvements to the intersection of Princes Highway and Railway Road at Sydenham. Funded under the NSW Government’s $300 million Gateway to the South Pinch Points Program, the project has improved the traffic flow at the intersection, providing a more reliable and safer journey for all road users. The work involved widening Railway Road to provide an additional right turn lane onto Princes Highway; relocated utilities such as gas, communications cables and water; and relocated existing electrical power poles. We also moved the pedestrian crossing on the Princes Highway to the other side of Railway Road and adjusted the traffic light phasing at the intersection, so motorists no longer have to wait for pedestrians to cross the road before they can turn, giving more time to the busiest parts of the intersection. Key benefits Improved travel times up to 12 hours a year for people who use this road each day when our roads are at their busiest Reduced congestion and improved traffic flow by creating the dual right turn lanes and maintained the existing dedicated left turn lane Upgraded the pedestrian crossings and adjusted the traffic light phasing to give more time each green light to the busiest parts of the intersection Improved safety for pedestrians and road users. The new dual right turn lanes and dedicated left turn lane has helped ease congestion at the intersection

Transport for NSW has recently completed improvements to the intersection of Princes Highway and Railway Road at Sydenham.
