The Next Steps1. Chuck Jacob and his wife Diane will visit CGS the weekend of Friday, March 27 through Monday, March 30, with Chuck preaching at the Sunday morning worship service. During this weekend, Chuck will meet with the Session, other church leaders, and as many members as time permits.

2. On Easter Sunday, April 5, at the Sunday Morning Community hour, a Congregational Meeting will be held during which members of CGS will have the opportunity to vote on whether to extend a call to Rev. Chuck Jacob.

3. If called, the Jacob children will finish out the school year in Ann Arbor and the family will move to Durham sometime in June.

Endorsements“Chuck is a rare blend of informed mind and enflamed heart—a wise leader, who has a deep love for the gospel of God’s grace—a caring pastor, who is very comfortable with his own weakness.”

Scotty Smith, Founding Pastor of Christ Community Church, Franklin TN

“He is a gifted person intellectually. As to preaching and teaching, he communicates clearly and pas-sionately. He is theologically careful and wants to meet the needs of people.”

Richard Pratt, President, Third Millennium Ministries

“Chuck’s passion is to preach the Gospel because his understanding of the good news was so transfor-mational in his own life.”

Rob Norris, Sr. Pastor of Fourth Presbyterian, Washington DC

“Chuck’s greatest strength is Christ-centeredness. He understands how the gospel works and how to expound its glorious ‘indicatives’ (all that God has done for us in his Trinitarian grace in Jesus Christ) and its all-consuming ‘imperatives’ (what we are called to be in Christ).”

Sinclair Ferguson, author, pastor, theology professor

Brief TestimonyChuck Jacob grew up in northern California with a Jewish father and mainline protestant mother in what was essentially a secular home. Following a painful divorce, his mother returned to church taking the children with her. There, at age 12, Chuck was converted and became active in church life.

After a season of doubting during his college years, Chuck moved to Washington DC where his desire for God was rekindled under the ministry of Fourth Presbyterian. He explains, “Growing up, I was often encouraged to ‘know the Word of God’ but few urged me to know the God of the Word. I was encour-aged to ‘claim the promises,’ but nobody taught me that God is even more zealous to fulfill His promis-es.”

His call to ministry was not dramatic or sudden, but a gradual realization from church involvement as a teen to working with the college ministry at Fourth Presbyterian. In 1994, he enrolled at RTS in Orlando FL.
