Antonio Graziadio established the Graziadio business in1959. Initially the company produced busbar, electricalpanels and selected industrial kitchen equipment.

In 1961 Graziadio patented the first busbar single boltjoint in the industry and focused production on theirpatented prefabricated busbar.

The success of their busbar business resulted in Graziadio outgrowing their original factory in Turin. The office andfactory facilities were relocated to a much larger facility in Rivoli, where production continues today.

In 2005 an additional 2000m2 robotic factory was opened located in Carru. This facility is dedicated to theproduction of the GLS lighting busbar range.

Today Graziadio have a much expanded product range covering most power and lighting applications, and export toover 68 countries around the world.

The success of Graziadio has been built on product development, more flexible manufacturing schedules, but moreimportantly by delivering the more personal service associated with an independent business.

To continue these values, in 2013 Graziadio & C appointed an independent UK distributor to continue the growth onbehalf of Graziadio in the UK.

Benefits of aluminium

• WEIGHT: Aluminium is that it is light, with a density onethird that of steel;

• CONDUCTIVITY: Although the conductivity of the commonlyused conducting alloy (1350) is only around 62% of annealedcopper, it is only 1/3 the weight;

• FORMABILITY: Aluminium’s superior malleability is essentialfor extrusion. This property is also exploited in the rolling ofstrips, as well as in bending and other forming operations;

• STRENGTH: Aluminium alloys commonly have tensilestrengths of between 70 and 700 MPa. Unlike most steel grades, aluminium does not become brittle at low temper-atures. Instead, its strength increases;

• NON SPARKING / COMBUSTIBLE: Non sparking characteristic (against itself and other non ferrous metal). Aluminium does not burn and does not produce hazardous emissions exposed to heat;

• CORROSION RESISTANCE: When exposed to air, a layer of aluminium oxide forms almost instantaneously on the surface of aluminium. This layer has excellent resistance to corrosion;

• NON MAGNETIC: Aluminium is a non-magnetic (actually paramagnetic) material;

• ZERO TOXICITY: After oxygen and silicon, aluminium is the most common element in the Earth’s crust. Aluminium compounds also occur naturally in our food;

• RECYCLABILITY: Aluminium is 100% and infinitely recyclable

Aluminium and copper are the two metals most widely utilisedas electrical conductors.• CONDUCTIVITY: aluminium’s specific electrical conductivity

is double that of copper. For this reason it is indispensable forelectronics and far electrical applications.

From this we can conclude:• Although electrical resistivity of aluminium is approximately

62% that of copper, in two lengths of equal resistance analuminium conductor would be 1.3 times the diameter of thecopper one.

• Copper’s specific mass is 3.3 times that of aluminium.Therefore, if resistance is the same, an aluminium conductorwill be twice as light as a copper conductor.
