IntroductionGRAPHISOFT Australia has worked with Dulux Australia to develop a new DULUX Library file containing approximately 5000 Dulux colours for use with the new Surface Painter feature in ARCHICAD 19. The colours are easily applied and managed using the Surface Painter feature and represent using the correct RGB values for each Dulux colour in the range. The colours can appear in plan, section, and elevation views, the 3D Window and even photorenders produced using the CineRender by MAXON rendering engine. The vast range of available colours combined with the ease of applying these to ARCHICAD elements and objects ensures a quick and easy workflow, saving the architect time and helping to produce accurate documentation and visualisation material. Dulux Colour Naming ConventionThere is a naming convention for each available Dulux colour to make searching easier. The naming convention aligns with the standard Dulux naming convention i.e. manufacturer (Dulux), colour name and specifier-number (refer image below). Note: There is a Dulux Mobile Application available that allows you to capture a colour using the mobile device’s inbuilt camera, which then tells you the closest matching Dulux colour. Similarly, the Dulux website has a feature that allows you to browse by Dulux Colour Name or Shade. Dulux _ Abbey White _ PN1E5 Manufacturer Colour Name Specifier-number

How to Install… The Dulux colours have been packaged into a single Library Container File (.lcf). To obtain the Library file and start using in ARCHICAD 19, please do the following:

1. Download and unzip the Dulux Australia Colour Library (.lcf) from the GRAPHISOFT Support Centre (http://support.graphisoft.com.au).

2. Start ARCHICAD 19 and open the Library Manager by going to File menu > Libraries

and Objects > Library Manager… (refer image below).

3. With the Library Manager dialog open, click on Add… then locate and select the previously downloaded Dulux Library (.lcf) file. Once selected, click on the Choose button at the bottom right of the dialog (refer image below).

4. The Dulux_AUS.lcf now appears under Linked Libraries in the Library Manager dialog

(refer image below). Click on the OK button to exit the dialog.

How to Use…

5. Open the Surface Painter dialog. Go to Window menu > Palettes > Surface Painter (refer image below).

6. In the Surface Painter dialog, click on the little arrow button to the right of the search

bar and select In Loaded Catalogs from the drop-down list (refer image below).

7. Search for a Dulux colour by clicking in the search bar and typing either the colour name or shade. Select the Dulux colour from the list and click the Add to Project button that appears in the bottom left corner of the Surface Painter dialog (refer image below).

You have now loaded a Dulux colour into your project and can apply it to any surface using the Surface Painter by selecting the loaded colour and then clicking on the surface of an element or object in the 3D window (refer image on next page).

TIP – Avoid searching the catalog using common terms like “Dulux” as a keyword since it will result in all 4900+ entries loaded. The process of loading individual colours into the project one by one prevents the Surface Catalog from becoming overwhelmed by the entire Dulux colour catalog, maintaining an organised and better-performing library.

CineRender… The Dulux colours have been developed to work with ARCHICAD’s inbuilt CineRender by MAXON rendering engine. Further rendering-specific enhancements can be made to the colours through the CineRender dialog box (refer image below). TIP – If you place the Library Container File (.lcf) into your ARCHICAD Library 19 folder, the Dulux Australia Library will be automatically loaded and available every time you start ARCHICAD 19 i.e. you will not have to manually locate and ‘add’ the Library using the Library Manager for every new project. Happy modelling, The GRAPHISOFT Team
