Case Study – Heartland Payment Systems

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Heartland is a Fortune 1000 company that provides debit, prepaid, and credit card processing, mobile

commerce, e-commerce, check processing, payroll services, billing services, marketing services, security

technology, lending services and a growing line of industry-specific business facilitation solutions for small to mid-sized merchants and enterprises.

CHALLENGE

The Corporate Technologies division in Plano, TX, represented approximately 400 employees located

within two facilities in the area. Restrictive lease terms on the existing spaces, meant a very aggressive

build schedule was necessary to meet lease deadlines. Although this division is comprised of extremely

talented network and information systems specialists, the scope and schedule of the office consolidation

and build-out of the new facility demanded the expertise of a dedicated team to meet the requirements and construction timeline of the project.

With only two weeks prior to the start of construction, the Stravis team was engaged to assist in the design

process for the 80,000 SF space. In addition, Heartland was looking to leverage the move to uncover the

needs for corporate enterprise collaboration strategy. Many disparate solutions were in place, but no single technology was able to meet the demand of their specific business drivers.

RESULT

The Stravis team was able to jump in to identify all of the technology systems requirements, and coordinate

the necessary dependencies to issue the construction documentation on time, 15 days after getting started

on the project. Heartland and Stravis were successful in bringing the low voltage design and

implementation process in synch with the construction schedule, and all groups were able to move in to the new class A space on target. The technology systems were delivered 20% under the targeted budget.

Project Overview:

CES moved its headquarters to 400 S. Record St, formerly known as the Belo Building. CES occupies five floors

Of the iconic, 235,000-square-foot office tower. CES has a global footprint which required their AV, Network and

Infrastructure to blend seamlessly so that employees and guests would be able to simply connect any device,

anywhere and share content locally and through video conferencing.

The team at Stravis took time and genuine interest to interpret our current and future technological

needs. Considering the ever changing nature of technology they were wonderful at guiding us through varying

options and communicating the details in a manner we could understand and visualize the solution being presented.

Additionally, their involvement in the execution and oversight of the installation safeguarded the integrity of the

infrastructure we selected. Naturally internal staff were still required to administer the project, however at a high level

allowing us to concentrate on our day to day responsibilities. We would highly recommend their consultation when

designing and implementing your respective data, security and AV network needs.

A subsidiary of Capital One Financial, the company found its niche in the e-loan market. From its origins of selling

loans only through direct mail and auto dealerships, the company has evolved into one of the largest Internet auto

lenders in the US. An online decision usually comes within minutes, after which the buyer receives a "blank check"

for up to the approved loan amount, thus providing the negotiating power of cash to let the borrower purchase or

refinance a new or used vehicle.

CHALLENGE

Develop and coordinate the deployment of IT services for the new loan servicing space within a Verizon facility that

will support a significant amount of all support, collections, and financing calls for Capital One Auto Finance. The

technology design was required to be very adaptive to the diverse business requirements of a call center. Areas of

the building must support training, collaboration, new employee transition spaces, and a contact center layout that

allow supervisors to work effectively with agents. A number of technologies were required within the facility which

created the necessity to partner with a company that can deploy the necessary IT solutions. Verizon was called upon

to take on the challenges since they already had such a strong relationship with Capital One.

RESULT

Stravis lead the effort in developing a scalable IT environment and creating a migration plan to minimize business

risk. Stravis, Verizon and Capital One developed a strong partnership that led to a tremendously successful result.

The entire Capital One team was selected for the Circle of Excellence award.

Project Overview:

TIER moved its headquarters from the Addison area in Dallas to is owned building of 5950 Sherry Lane in the Preston

Center Area of Dallas. In doing so, TIER wanted its floor to be a model for the repositioning of the building, bringing

brighter, and more technology to the space. This included Audio Visual, wireless and advanced conference room

scheduling capabilities.

The team at Stravis took time and genuine interest to interpret our current and future technological

needs. TIER executives wanted updated AV and Technology but within a tight budget. Stravis listened

and provided the perfect solutions that met the executives expectations from both perspectives. TIER

considers Stravis its partner in implementing similar technologies across its portfolio.
