I will provide you with the resources needed to complete this task but it is up to you to put everything together! Can you use the information you have discovered to create a Greek character and myth of your own? You and your partner need to come up with following: -The name of your mythological character -A picture of your character -Information about your character (any special skills/powers etc) -Write a myth that involves your character (remember the purpose of a myth!) Home Page Teacher Page This WebQuest is created for middle school students and meets the following Kentucky Teacher Standard(s): Reading and Literature Standard; Observing craft and structure; Narratives, Drama, and Poetry; c. compare similar ideas and themes as well as character types in myths, folktales, and legends from different culture. The objectives of this WebQuest are as follows: -Students can identify the purpose of a myth -Students can connect myths to the Greek culture and express the importance of the myths -Students can identify key gods, goddesses and heroes of Greek mythology -Students can discuss important myths researched in the WebQuest -Students understand what makes a Greek god, goddess or hero and can show this understanding in the completion of the final project Accommodations & Modifications Greek Mythology can be a hard concept to grasp. To modify this assignment for students with IEPs or 504s, teachers can provide hints on the worksheet asked to be completed, group a student up with another student who will excel in the project, make a point to check in with students throughout group project, communicate with parents during the project, grade on a scale lighter than that of other students as required in any IEP. **Because Greek Mythology contains content (outside of the selected resources) that may be hard to grasp, I would recommend this project for seventh or eighth grade students depending upon their maturity level. Sixth grade students may have a hard time understanding such a complex culture.
