INTRODUCTION

Communication is a process of creating and sustaining relationship. Communication in the family and community greatly influence the way we see ourselves and the way we form our self-identity: our own individuality, uniqueness, distinctiveness, characteristics and personality.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the assignment is to test the students understanding of the process of communication and the factors that influence the creation of meaning and self-identity through relational contexts, specifically in the family and social environment.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

Relationships are depicted in all kinds of movies: family dramas, films about friends and co-workers, love stories and certain action films. Select ONE movie. Name and describe the movie. Describe the interpersonal relationship(s) in the movie. How did the characters communicate with one another on the basis of their relational history? How did the characters define their roles relative to one another? What attitudes did they express toward one another? Discuss how does the movie reflect your self-identity and what is the most meaningful insight you gained about interpersonal communication from watching family interactions in the movie. Give an appropriate title to your essay.
