Differentiation involves the planning and implementation of “varied approaches to content, process, and product in anticipation of and response to student differences in readiness, interest, and learning needs” (Tomlinson, 2001, p. 7).
La diferenciación involucra la planificación y implementación de “ una variedad de acercamientos a los contenidos, procesos, y productos de la enseñanza en anticipación a y en respuesta a diferencias entres los estudiantes en términos de preparación, interés, o necesidad de aprendizaje” (Tomlinson, 2001, p. 7).

Why differentiate?¿Por qué diferenciar?
A sizeable body of research has accumulated in favor of differentiated instruction (Rock, Gregg, Ellis, & Gable, 2008).

SACS: Develop curricula to include differentiated learning and assessment opportunities as well as provide learning support services to ensure that students’ learning, thinking, and life skills advance and lead to success at the next level.

Ethical imperative to differentiate: Differentiation is indispensable if we truly believe in
equity (Tomlinson, 2014). Differentiation is necessary to prepare our students for
the diverse world in which they will live and to ensure a more equal distribution of resources among classrooms (George, 2005).
