What is TOEFL?

According to Sharpe (1992) in Barrons How to

Prepare for the TOEFL that TOEFL is kind of

International test which consist of listening,reading, and writing comprehension test.

What is the Purpose of the TOEFL

To measure of the English proficiency of the

candidates. The majority of admission colleges

and university as well as working requirements inthe world require foreign applicants to submit

TOEFL scores along with transcripts and

recommendation in order to be considered for

admission (Sharpe, 1992: 5)

50 questions; 40 minutes consist of three

parts of test

Part A : Restatements (20 questions)

You must choose from 4 possible answers in your

test book the answer that is closest in meaning to

the statement you have heard.
