What is Excel?

Microsoft Excel is an electronic spreadsheet program.

It can help you record, analyze, and present quantitative information. It allows you to enter both text and

numbers.  It is also helpful in computing formulas.  

What is a Spreadsheet?

You may have heard the terms "spreadsheet" and "worksheet, which are often used

interchangeably. For the purposes of this class, the term worksheet refers to the row-and-

column matrix sheet on which you work, while the term spreadsheet refers to this type of computer application. In addition, the term

workbook will refer to the book of pages that is the standard Excel spreadsheet document. The workbook can contain worksheets, chart sheets,

or macro modules.

Why is this type of information useful and how can it help me?

Excel allows you to create budgets & other important documents to manage data

Proper usage of Excel can eliminate clunky data keeping methods and save you time
