Introduction to our Company We wish to take this opportunity to introduce You Italmatic Presse Stampi s.r.l. with special reference to the field of production of AUTOCLAVES with quick closure complete with auxiliary services.

The company Italmatic was established in year 1966 and at present it operates in different sites of management and production, the main two of which are located in Milan and in Lucca. The core business of the company is the design, construction and commissioning of autoclaves for different industrial fields, with particular skill for treatment of composite materials (carbon fibres and thermoplastic materials). Italmatic autoclaves are nowadays at the top of the worldwide production for technological level, quality and economy. In latest years, our reliability and professionalism allowed us to sell complete “turn-key” plants to companies of international renown, who made a name for themselves in the different industrial fields. Our politics, that until now rewarded us, was to assure our Customers results in terms of performance, quality and optimization of investments, in the aim to supply a product that can last in time and that won’t be replaced by new technologies in the immediate future.


The company Italmatic has at its disposal young, available and dynamic staff, dedicated also to activities of research and development, in order to offer solutions technologically in the van and to find ad hoc personalized solutions for its own Customers. Italmatic assures its own Customers a skilled after sales service, with services of tele-assistance/on-line web assistance, telephone assistance, and it promotes contracts of ordinary maintenance in order to keep the whole plant always efficient.

Italmatic is ISO 9001V.2000 certified, both for the design and for the sale of its own plants. Availing itself of the experience gained operating in the different industrial fields mentioned above, it can supply its own Customers the best engineering ability for the elaboration of projects according to specifications of Customers, with special reference to:

- Structural design at pressures and temperatures required by the Customer (pressures up to 40 bar and over, temperatures up to 450°C and over).

- Dimensional adaptation of the AUTOCLAVE to the load foreseen.

- Thermo-dynamic design of the plant to obtain the maximum yield according to the performances requested by the Customer

- Dimensional constructions up to the limits of transportability of single monolithic components with subsequent welding and assembling on site. Italmatic, at its own


sites, can manufacture autoclaves having sizes of diameters from 1m up to a 6 m and of length up to 20 m and over. For bigger diameters, that cannot be transported on road, it can open a yard at the Customer’s seat and build them on site.

- Plan and design of personalized air recirculation systems to obtain the best heat transfer, temperature uniformity and an optimal global yield.

- Various systems of door moving, by hinge, flag, sash, always adapted and designed according to the requirements of the department.

- Design, supply and installation of all of the services necessary for the plant working,

like: - Pressurization systems by air, azote, mix of air-azote or other fluids, complete

with booster groups for high pressure and suitable cooling groups. - Accumulation tanks for air-azote / cooling water, also for high working

pressures. - Cooling systems by evaporating tower with open and closed circuit to cool

service waters. - Thermal power stations by diathermic oil, by steam or by gas for direct

combustion. - Cooling systems by high efficiency chillers and exchangers to cool service

waters. - Material loading systems by manual, half-automatic or completely automatic

trolleys. - Raisable, translating or circular connection platforms for a suitable autoclave-

department connection complete with sliding tracks for trolleys shunting according to spaces available. Vacuum groups complete with pumps, accumulation tanks and installations required.

The above mentioned AUTOCLAVES are today at the top of the worldwide production for their technological level, production quality and operation inexpensiveness. Since over 20 years, we have been producing AUTOCLAVES FOR COMPOSITE MATERIALS TREATMENT. The application fields in which we are mostly involved are: AERONAUTICAL AND AEROSPACE, MILITARY, NAVAL, SPORT, BUILDING, ARTS


Italmatic is operating in n° 3 production plants of approx. 15.000 covered m2, respectively two in Lucca and one in Milan. Today Italmatic has more of 100 employees. Besides its technical and production frame, it avails itself also of outside cooperators and of important production units connected, in the aim to satisfy the high production peaks required and also special executions of AUTOCLAVES having sizes out of standard, therefore always assuring the compliance with the various specifications of Customers. A special attention is reserved to:

- Structural designing at specific pressure and temperature conditions - Dimensional constructions up to the limit of transportability of single monolithic

components with subsequent welding and assembling on site - Dimensional adaptation according to the load foreseen


- Study and design of personalized systems for air recirculation to assure the obtaining of the best heat transfer, of temperature uniformity and of the higher total output.


- Use of plants for nitrogen evaporation with the preparation of specific mix of air-nitrogen for the autoclave pressurization

- Control and automatic run of vacuum both in static and in dynamic phases - Predisposition of fix equipments of connection for the periodical certification of the

process - Optimization of energy sources available, in the aim to reduce cycle costs selecting

between diathermic oil, steam, electric heating and direct combustion

- Differentiated systems of OPENING/CLOSURE of autoclave doors, of hinge type, flag type or clamp type, according to the logistic requirements of department


The closing system is the most important thing on the point of view of the pressure equipment safety in time. Italmatic designed a closing system mounted on a lateral support independent on the autoclave body. The overall dimensions of the door do not jeopardize at all the space for loading, on the contrary, it leaves the back lateral part free, where normally the vacuum group is mounted by one side and the electric board by the other side. Our competition supplies a flag system, with the support mounted directly on the autoclave body; by this solution the door weight always burdens on the autoclave body especially in the condition of door open in lateral position. In time, a fatigue to the autoclave structure is generated. Moreover the flag system with door hanging on the upper part, besides losing easily the closure registration, requires a higher maintenance on moving bodies (bearings, gearmotors, etc.). THERMAL INSULATION: Our insulation is positioned all inside the autoclave; a supporting frame is carried out for the laying of the insulating mattress (high density rock wool and ceramic fiber) and of the containing plates, which cover the inside surface completely and which are suitably fixed to make the movements due to thermal expansion easier. The internal insulation assures a great energy saving both in the heating and in the cooling phases because it avoids to have to heat and cool every time the autoclave metal body.


HEATING SYSTEM: Our electric battery consists of single electric elements grouped in more stages; every stage is controlled independently on the others, so that the system power is modulated according to the load processed in autoclave. The modulation of heating elements is obtained by suitable electronic contactors SCR. In our electric batteries there is a safety system to preserve them in case of “over-heating”, in fact in case of increase of temperature over the limit allowed, the system interrupts automatically the power circuit and indicates the anomaly by visual and sounding alarm. Moreover, we inform you that the electric elements (single heating elements) of which the battery consists, can be replaced individually; this means that also in case of breakdown of one only element of a few watt it is possible replacing it.

COOLING SYSTEM: Our cooling system is very advanced and allows to make also cycles post curing at low temperatures for long periods of time. The system consists of a circuit with two-ways valve of small passage for cooling at high temperatures, and with three-ways valve of large passage for cooling at low temperatures (under 140°C) . The system is designed to work in pressure with a mixer preventing any formation of steam being dangerous for the plant and for safety. Our cooling gradient assures a down stroke ramp as per customer request. which means having the possibility to cool in requested time with full load. Our cooling system can work with evaporating tower or with waste water; in the last case we set up a system allowing the partial re-utilisation of released water, allowing a great water saving.


AUTOCLAVE MOTORFAN: The main motor of the autoclave is the heart of the machine. We supply a pressurized motor cooled by water with suitable power and with speed change gear (inverter) to obtain always the maximum performance in all combinations of pressure and temperature. On the motor a special high yield fan is coupled directly that, together with a set of channels and conveyors, assures the recirculation of the air necessary for a correct uniformity of temperature (± 2°C ). VACUUM PLANT: Our configuration includes an outside rack complete with:

- Vacuum pumps lubricated by oil - Vacuum tank of with homologated safety valve - Pneumatic vacuum and venting valve mounted on the tank - Mano-vacuum-meter and pressure transducer on the tank - independent automatic valves for vacuum connections passing individually the

autoclave wall - automatic valves for venting connections on each vacuum line - manometers mounted on each vacuum connection - Vacuum control system from PLC supervisioned by Touch Screen or PC


Design, supply and installation of all services necessary for the autoclave operation like:

• Thermal power stations by diathermic oil, steam or direct combustion • Groups of water cooling with evaporating tower with open or closed circuit • Groups of air compression by the use of rotary screw compressors for direct

pressurization and compression groups by booster for high pressures

• Groups of refrigeration of compressed air • Vacuum groups with differentiated and adjusted pressure • Batteries of manual and automatic vacuum lines


• Platforms of connection that can be lifted, translating or circular for an adequate connection autoclave-department, complete with sliding rails and trolleys shunting according to available spaces

• Technological undertrolleys and trolleys particularly equipped according to the size of pieces in treatment

• Running and control systems at different levels to meet the requirements of the Customer up to the supervision running PC PLC and PLC DCS with interface via modem (Ethernet) when required

ADVANCED CONTROL SYSTEM: Our control system is a SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) or DCS (Distributed Control System) and it is one of the points of force making the difference with our competition, and that in time allowed us to reach enviable quality standards. The system offers a complete supervision of the plant, the possibility to interact in manual or automatic mode in any moment, the print of all process data and of graphs and recipes.


We complete our short preliminary introduction confirming that our productions are carried out in compliance with rules and certification in force, and that autoclaves are delivered together with required certification and CE required for pressure materials.
