This is a listing of the selections/codes for the different types of Exceptional Clearance. Make sure that when you use these, that you are entering the correct type. We have two that seem to get confused quite a bit: Prosecution Declined is for when the prosecution is declined by the prosecutor. Not when the victim says “I do not want to prosecute.” If using the clearance of Victim Refused to Cooperate: We are seeing an increase in this. Do not use this if the only issue is that officers cannot get in touch again with the victim. We recommend when possible that there is something in writing – signed by the victim – that they do not wish to prosecute or pursue the case further. OR some notation in the report – narrative or elsewhere stating this. Read clarification from Kevin and the FBI.
