What Could This Be?

We are in a unique situation. We can make the AFHS Student Council what we envision.

Our Student Council members could be:

Innovators of traditions that will be set for years to come.

Creators of new ways to reach out to the Apex community.

Designers of new sources to connect students to parents, teachers and the community.

Leaders in both our school and our community.

A Starting Point:

The AFHS Student Council will be made up of student leaders. These students will act as a bridge to connect ideas between School Leaders, Students, Parents and our Community.

Students interested in being a student leader will assume the responsibility that is associated with this role. Some responsibilities include organizing information gathered from students, meeting with parents and community leaders, working with school organization and administration.

A Hierarchy?

The structure of the Student Council should be an inclusive model allowing many chances for students to seek active leadership roles in our community.

School administration would like the Student Council to be one of many opportunities for students to get involved.

We suggest a model like this to allow as many members as possible that will actively participate in the program

Ambassador Leadership Corps

Students who are not elected but still wish to serve our community will have the opportunity to join the Ambassador Leadership Corps. This group of students will serve as a subset group and assist the Student Council in executing programs.

Some functions of the Ambassador Leadership Corps would be to assist in decorating for dances, selling tickets for fundraisers, helping out in community projects.

Participation in the Ambassador Leadership Corps will be voluntary. Meetings will be held monthly and will be announced the week before the meeting.

• Each student council representative will be required to participate. Occasional absences due to illness are expected and consideration for athletics, other clubs, etc. will be considered, but members of the Student Council will be expected to actively participate in the program.
