Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caringyoung people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
MYP Certificate: eAssessments (on-screen examinations)/ePortfolios
• Learn about the mission and philosophy of the MYP Certificate.
• Explore the eAssessment/ePortfolio framework, expectations and outcomes
• Understand how the MYP Certificate is planned for and how the curriculum is delivered at GWA.
IB Philosophy
• Focus on conceptual learning which allows students to organize ideas within and across subject areas.
• Extend learning transfer that will extend beyond the classroom and beyond the summative testing point to future learning.
The MYP eAssessments and ePortfolios:• embody the MYP at the core of the programme and
are built on the development of learning in the MYP through Global Contexts and Conceptual Understandings
• provide external results in line with IB expectations and will support the decisions our students are making in further education (IBDP and IBCP) and their future
Through eAssessments and ePortfoliosstudents will have to opportunity to:
• Demonstrate achievement against all criterion• Develop application of knowledge and skills in
unfamiliar situations• Exercise creative and critical thinking• Explore ideas through a global context• Develop multiple perspectives to analyze issues
and challenges• Use reasoning and problem-solving skills
eAssessments - (on-screen assessments)
• Global Context - IB will select one of the following:• Personal and Cultural Expression• Identities and Relationships• Orientation in Space and Time• Globalization and Sustainability• Fairness and Development• Scientific and Technical Innovation
• Subject areas include: • Language and Literature• Mathematics• Individuals and Societies• Sciences
• Included is an additional Interdisciplinary exam, which will encompass two disciplines as part of the final evaluation for the IB MYP Certificate.
ePortfolios• ePortfolio subjects include:
• Language Acquisition (French and Spanish)• Physical and Heath Education• Design• Arts (Music, Drama and Visual Arts)• Personal Project
• Completed in class as a 20 hour unit, set out by the IB with Global Context. • Time-frame (January- March)• Criterion-related assessment• Moderated on site by IB teachers• uploaded portfolios to the IB
• Student work will be submitted before the end of March
Preparations for eAssessment and ePortfolio
• Curriculum development• In-class experiences• Development of structured assessment
practices (formative and summative)• Mock examinations/familiarity with platform• Practice with logins and technology• On-screen Specimens for practice

Expectations of the MYP Certificate:
• Each eAssessment examination is 2 hours in duration. • Each ePortfolio will encompass approximately 20 hours of
classroom work.• Students must earn a 3 or above on eAssessments (including
the interdisciplinary on-screen exam, the ePortfoliocoursework, and the Personal Project for an MYP Certificate to be awarded.
• Students must also complete all programme requirements for the Service and Action portion of the MYP.
Celebration
• Please note, we will receive the results of the ePortfolios/eAssessments by August 1, 2018.
• The acknowledgement of achievement will take place at our MYP Celebration Evening when we return in the fall.
