Introductory, TVPC Meeting At roll call at 6PM, the following were present: Carl Hally, Nancy Moore, Kerry Hupp, Sunnee Clark, Alan Kleinfeld, and Robin Brooks, staff. Missing was Wesley Bloomfield. Soraya McKay, Little Dog Agency, was present with Kaili Howard and Jessie Thayer. Minutes of the last meeting were unanimously approved on motions by Clark and second by Hupp.

Remarks and Updates by the Chair Hally Clark, Brooks, and Hally met with Lee, the City’s controller, to refine the budget, e.g., adding an accountant’s fee, and format it by City guidelines. A synoptic budget is expected to be presented to Council for approval at the Mid-November meeting. The TVPC is working to become more independent from the City. Clark, TVPC Treasurer, and Hally, Chair, will dually sign checks. When one is not available, Kleinfeld volunteered to be the second signature. There is some concern about a new “likefolly” website, which is registered anonymously. Its lack of fresh information runs the danger of misdirecting both advertisers for the site and potential tourists. On a similar matter, Chair Hally presented a folder of information to dissuade Trip Advisor from sending people to FollyBeach.com, which has misinformed site visitors. A letter from the mayor and other documents ask that Trip Advisor refer people to visitfolly.com. Chair Hally will also write a letter, and Little Dog will contact Trip Advisor.

Old Business Little Dog reported on a potential ad buy that had been previously discussed. The contemplated ad for the regional Conte Nast would be for Feb., March, and April, with publication dates expected one month earlier than the stated buy month. The consensus was to buy only for Feb. and April and use the fallout money for purchases related to the Bridge Run and to SEWE.

New Business As with the last meeting, most of the time was spent as a workshop under the direction of Soraya McKay of Little Dog. Materials are attached (with some updates in red added after the meeting). Before the workshop began, she noted that she had asked the CVB to mark on their website the Morris Island Lighthouse as linked to Folly. A sampling of items discussed or decided in this workshop is as follows:

• Requested for more pictures of group activities and family fun. • Approved of the revised new logo. Scalable versions in various formats to be

distributed with Hupp archiving them. • Approved the design of a rack card once revised to enhance the clarity of the split

photos along the side. • Notice of work toward a radio ad with the theme, “You are in easy “driving range,” but

could be at Folly in X hours.” • Discussion of a holiday discount package, now approved by the Folly Association of

Business (FAB). Little Dog (LD) will contact FAB to get participating merchants. The email list and our website will be used to advertise these as well as the CVB.

• A first look at the evolving new website, which will be sent to TVPC members for detailed feedback.

• Approval of inclusion of a link to Folly’s economic impact in the media kit—among other suggested revisions.

• Consensus that a helicopter ride and the Municipal Golf Course should be included under “things to do.”

• Inclusion of Folly’s Riverside Park Crabbing dock on the website map. • Request for TVPC to send revisions to the media kit. • Listing of places and people for the Raycom professional camera people to film the

weekend of Nov. 8. Hally has already lined up some eco-touring and SUPs. Soraya will send the long list of suggestions to the Committee for revisions and for help in contacting affected people so that the scheduling can be packed.

The TVPC adjourned at 8:28, with plans to meet at 6 on Nov. 11.
