Under-water facilities for oil and gas production are gener-ally referred to using a subsea prefix, such as subsea well, subsea tree, subsea manifold, etc. Together with the engineering, manufacturing and installation of umbilical’s, risers, and flowlines, as well as associated services, this scope is often abbreviated as “SURF”.

Subsea production systems can be used to develop entire reservoirs, or parts of reservoirs (flanks), early production systems, satellite developments, infill drilling, brownfield optimization etc, which require drilling of wells from more than one location. Deep water conditions can inherently dictate development of a field by means of a subsea pro-duction system.

SURF systems will play an increasing role as fields are to be developed in deeper and more remote areas – as well as when developing marginal fields – smaller deposits are to be tied back to fixed or floating hubs covering larger areas.

The below graph shows some major trends in the develop-ment of offshore oil and gas fields. Compared with fixed platform solutions, development solutions applying floaters and or SURF solutions will be increasingly important. There will be a doubling of the offshore oil service market from 2010 to 2016 and offshore E&P spending will reach US$ 1 trillion in 2030. Today, development solutions containing floaters and SURF (subsea) covers roughly 40% of offshore field developments – increasing to 60% in 2030 when tie-backs will drive growth in the subsea market by 4 times in the period 2012–2030.

SURF CatEgoRIESThe development and operations of subsea oil and gas fields require suppliers and service providers for:

• Engineering & Technical Services: Subsea and SURF technology is a highly specialized field of application with particular demands on Engineering & Technical Services; covering service elements from flow assurance simula-tions and studies, pipeline and subsea design to detailed installation and tie-in studies.

• Subsea production systems: These can range in complexity from a single satellite well with a single flowline tied back to a fixed platform or an onshore installation, to several wells on a template or clustered around a manifold, and transferring to a fixed or floating facility e.g. FPSO, or directly to an onshore installation. Subsea Production Systems include seabed located hardware, from wellheads and X-mas trees to templates, manifolds and connection

systems for flowlines and risers, as well as potential subsea power, separation and boosting systems. Also spe-cialized equipment like tooling for installing and maintaining the systems and working over the wells are included.

• Umbilicals, Risers & Flowlines: are hardware elements that are required to connect the subsea systems to top-side systems of a floating production unit.

• Marine operations and intervention: The installation of hardware and servicing it throughout its life cycle requires marine installation and/or intervention vessels. The ser-vicing requires deployment of tooling from an intervention vessel.

This SURF catalogue is a description of Norwegian based suppliers and service providers, providing equipment and systems for subsea field developments sorted in the above categories.

Deep Sea anchors aSContact person: Ivar ErdalTitle: Chief Executive Officer E-mail address: [email protected] website: www.deepseaanchors.com

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:Deep Sea Anchors AS is a technology developer and pro-vider of unique and patented anchor solutions for offshore floating structures, especially in soft seabed sediments. We deliver smart, responsive, end-to-end engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solutions for both permanent and non-permanent anchoring using Deep Penetrating Anchor (DPATM). We have expertise in marine soil mechanics to provide engineering design and geotech-nical consultancy, especially for anchoring larger floating structures, to the offshore energy industries as well as for offshore civil applications.

PRODUCTS:The Deep Penetrating Anchor (DPA™) is a dynamically installed anchor which is released freely from a prede-termined height over the seabed, using gravity as the installation force. The DPA™ has many advantages over conventional solutions. These anchors penetrate well below mud line into stiff clay sediments thus allowing for taut leg mooring. These factors translate into a cost effective alter-native, which is insensitive to water depth.

In comparison to alternative solutions, DPA™ offers the following advantages:• No external energy required for installation• Greater weather window than comparable suction

anchors solutions

• No orientation requirements, i.e. can be loaded in any direction

• Precise horizontal positioning• Quick installation• Applicable for taut leg mooring• Low sensitivity to increasing water depth• No restriction regarding water depth, i.e. no electrical

cables, pump skids, etc.• No proof loading required• Only one failure mode to analysis• More cost-effective with respect to fabrication and marine

operations than comparable alternative solutions

SERVICES:We provide a comprehensive range of anchoring solutions and services for offshore floating structures especially in soft seabed sediments.

Services offered range from various subjects such as, but not limited to:• geotechnical advice, design, and engineering• anchor sizing reports• fabrication and transportation of the Deep Penetrating

Anchors (DPATM)• installation procedures and supports

SELECTED REFERENCES:• Deep Sea Anchor has been ISO 9001:2008 certified and

is registered on Achilles JQS database of pre-qualified suppliers.

• Two full size 75 ton DPA™ were successfully installed at the Gjøa field in mid August 2009 and the DPA™ was qualified by class society in the last quarter 2009

Fedem technology aSContact person: Gunnar PaulsenTitle: Business Development ManagerE-mail address: [email protected] website: www.fedem.com

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:Fedem technology aS is an independent company that performs engineering services and develops software for dynamic simulations and lifetime assessment of mechani-cal systems and offshore structures, both subsea and topside.

PRODUCTS:Fedem Technology develops and distributes the FEDEM software.

Our software solutions have been developed over 20 years, and have become the leading software for dynamic analyses of complex mechanical systems and structures in motion. The dynamic simulations are used for integrity analyses considering both strength and fatigue. The soft-ware is used within a wide range of areas, e.g.:

• Conductor, wellhead and riser systems; both rigid- and flexible risers

• Process facilities

• Winch- and crane systems• Offshore wind power

SERVICES:Our services include studies, detailed engineering or veri-fication of subsea equipment, well-/riser systems, offshore structures and vessels. Technical analyses are used to develop new products or more effective procedures for installation and operation.

Our goal is to reduce risk and cost for our customers by providing efficient and most accurate structural analysis and lifetime assessment.

To estimate the remaining lifetime, existing structures are analyzed based on dynamic simulations using historical data for loads and/or structural response. To ensure best possible lifetime assessment, the response can be moni-tored by instruments over a certain time, giving input to the simulations. Large and complex systems are modeled in the same global model with an ultimate level of details for most accurate determination of fatigue damage. Such analyses might often document extended structural capac-ity or lifetime compared to more simplified analysis, and thus representing a cost benefit for the project.

Sandvik Riser Technology ASContact person: Tore SalteTitle: Sales ManagerE-mail address: [email protected] website: www.clikloc.com

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:Sandvik Riser Technology AS design and manufacture the brand Sandvik ClikLoc® connector and riser tubes to be used within well completion and intervention work. Sandvik Riser Technology is a part of Sandvik Material Technology AB who is a world leading manufacture of high value-added products in advanced stainless steel and special alloys.

PRODUCTS:The Sandvik ClikLoc® – a revolution in multiple make and break connections

The new, patented, high performance ClikLoc from Sandvik Riser Technology AS combines hook-up time savings with increased operating safety. Make and break can be reduced by at least 80%, and since no loose components or make-up tool are involved, the hazard of falling objects has been eliminated.

Designed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 13628-7 and DNV certified for completion and workover riser systems, the Sandvik ClikLoc® is a bayonet type, stab-in, self centering coupling which means no rotation of the riser during set-up. The metal to metal seal needs very low pretention – the weight of the riser joint is sufficient – and the seal guaranteed when locked. The seal is also reusable allowing multiple make and breaks.

Sandvik ClikLoc® is suitable for sour and standard service, the connector operates at temperatures up to 121ºC and pressure up to 10.000 psi.

The Sandvik ClikLoc® is made from powder technology, super duplex stainless steel grade Sandvik SAF 2507.

Typical applications are coil tubing High Pressure stack-up risers, work over and completion risers and hook-up of landing string to slick (case wear) joint, flow head and BOP in CT and WL operations.

SELECTED REFERENCES:When performing production well cleanup operation to a semi submersible drilling rig a landing string system is connected to the wellhead. Using traditional technology, the last connection of the landing string is made by rotating the assembly above the surface flow tree or use flange con-nection who is time consuming.

BP Norway at BP SKARV and Marathon Norway at ALVHEIM choose to use the Sandvik ClikLoc®. The customer’s concludes: “Overall we have been very pleased with the connector. It has certainly made connecting the surface flow tree assembly and above equipment much simpler and safer than other connection.”

The larges foreign operator in Norway continental shelf was looking for a safer and time saving alternative to the con-ventional rigging of coil tubing stack up risers. Conventional rigging of a 30-meter tall riser tower involves more than 900 potentially falling objects. One single bolt can weigh as much as 4 Kg.

By employing Sandvik ClikLoc® at Ekofisk X in the North Sea for well intervention, the oil company able to increase crew safety dramatically. Speedy rig up and rig down has minimized the time the well intervention riser tower has to occupy valuable time on the platform skid deck.

Other company using the Sandvik ClikLoc® is Baker Hughes, Shlumberger and Statoil

Jean Cahuzac, Chief Executive Officer, said: “We have delivered a good quarter in line with our expectations. These results reflect high offshore activity in West Africa on large projects, good vessel utilisation in the North Sea and a strong contribution from our Joint Ventures. Nevertheless, the higher activity levels in the North Sea are, as expected, still impacted by margin pressure on contracts awarded in 2010. Operational delays on projects in the North Sea have also impacted these results. For fiscal year 2011, we expect to deliver an Adjusted EBITDA in line with expectations.

Despite recent macroeconomic turmoil we continue to see good order book momentum and our backlog remains strong and diverse. I am very pleased with the progress we are making integrating the Group and remain confident with our ability to meet our objectives.”

Outlook: 2012 will be a year of progress for Subsea 7 but it will also be a transition year. West Africa will move through a period of lower offshore activity on those projects awarded over the past 18 months. We also foresee an above average impact arising from planned dry-docks while in the North Sea we expect to see improved margins year-on- year.

Consolidated Financial Statements included herein.

Vector aSContact person: Svend Skjeggedal Title: Managing DirectorE-mail address: [email protected] website: www.vectorint.com

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:Vector Technology Group (VTG) is a major single source supplier of bespoke compact sealing solutions for the oil & gas, subsea and topside markets. It’s core products are OPTIMA a Subsea ROV operable subsea connector, the SPO Compact Flange, and the TECHLOK Clamp con-nector; for use in Offshore platforms, subsea installations, FPSO’s, production plants, refineries and riser and swivel application. The core features are high integrity and mini-misation of weight and space, allied to installation time and maintenance cost reductions. Vector Technology Group’s high level of technical expertise, broad industry knowledge and problem solving capabilities have earned VTG industry wide recognition, helping to build close working relation-ships with customers whilst delivering high quality products and customised solutions on-time. In combination with an efficient supply chain VTG is able to deliver both flexible and fast track deliveries, in addition to executing larger projects. Its products cover pressure classes up to 15,000 psi and have a proven track record within High Pressure / High Temperature and harsh environment applications where fatigue, high bending and stress loads are of primary importance.

PRODUCTS:SPO Compact Flange: The SPO Compact Flange is a smaller and lighter proven alternative to conventional ASME flanges. It features a fully Static Connection where loads are transferred via metal to metal contact of flange faces, thereby, completely eliminating the potential for movement between the assembled SPO Compact Flanges whilst under dynamic loading. SPO Compact Flanges incorporate two independent metal to metal sealing mecha-nisms, offering High Integrity Sealing with a very limited leakage probability. With our recent release of the 5K, 10K and 15K standards, the SPO Compact flange now offers the most comprehensive range of bolted connectors, cover-ing all piping classes. We also have our full range of Swivel Ring Flanges, available in all sizes and pressure classes, making the SPO Compact Flange the perfect flange con-nector for subsea applications.

Optima Subsea Connector: The Optima subsea connector has been developed in close collaboration with some of the industry’s major operators and features a simple & efficient design which reduces initial cost and installation time. The Optima makes use of unique angular and radial alignment capacity and the male-female hub profiles ensure the most accurate alignment during assembly. The Optima makes use of our DuoSeal technology, a double pressure ener-gised metal seal preventing internal or external leakage (alloy 725 or equivalent as standard).

It has been engineered for remote operation in the most demanding deep and ultra deep water conditions, for use in depths up to and exceeding 4,000 meter. The Optima is available in size 2”–36” NPS and pressure ratings up to 15,000psi.

Techlok Clamp Connector: The Techlok Clamp Connector has only 4 bolts to tighten rather than up to 24 on a con-ventional flange, with no bolt holes to align. Maintenance downtime can be minimized thanks to it’s quicker and easier make-up and breakout. Several Techlok connectors can usually be assembled or disassembled in the time it takes for a single ANSI or API flange connection. The clamp allows a 360° rotation round the hub for easy bolt orientation and tightening. The Techlok Clamp Connector is up to 75% lighter and significantly smaller than a com-parable ANSI or API flange. The Techlok Clamp Connector has a proven track record of gas tight leak free operation when correctly installed. The pressure energised bore type seal withstands temperature and load variations which ultimately can cause conventional flanges to leak.

SERVICES:• Design engineering: FEA, inhouse assessments to recog-

nised codes, Full 3D CAD (solidworks) & CAM• Offshore / site assistance• Product training: The training course covers Introduction,

Handling & Protection, Assembly/Dis-assembly, Bolting and Damage assessment. Plus any additional compo-nents as specified by the client.

• Product Support: Dimensional Inspection, Leak investiga-tion, Damage assessment, repair management.
