ABSTRACTThe U. S. Air Force job inventory for the pavements
maintenance and construction equipment operator career ladders isdivided into 26 categories, each of which is broken down into aduty-task list. Space is provided for Air Force personnel filling outthe inventory to check whether each task is at present part of theirduties. The 26 categories are: organizing and planning; directing andimplementing; inspecting and evaluating; training; working withforms, records, reports, directives, or technical data; performinglaboratory and field tests, constructing and maintaining rigidpaveyments and concre!e structures; constructing and maintainingflexible pavements; constructing and maintaining drainage systems;building bunkers and revetments; constructing and maintainingprefabricated surface mats; working with explosives; constructing andmaintaining railroad trackage; performing grounds maintenance;applying herbicides and fungicides; operating trucks, front endloaders, and forklifts; operating industrial tractors andattachments; operating graders; operating bulldozers and scrapers;operating specialized equipment; operating cranes and attachments;operating miscellaneous equipment; performing snow removal functions;rigging hoisting equipment; performing missile support functions; andoperating well drilling equipment. I. Your assistance in complet.ng this survey is very important to youand the Air Force. Your answers and the answers of other airmencompleting this USAF Job Inventory will be used to develop:
a. Specialty descriptions or your career field.
b. Specialty training standards and resident training courses.
c. Career development courses for upgrade training in your careerfield.
d. Specialty Knowledge Tests (SKTs).
2. To qualify for this survey, you must meet the following conditions.
YOU MUST HAVE:
a. A duty AFSC of 55130, 55131, 55150, 55151, 55170, or 55171.
b. A duty AFSC of 55191, and be supervising 551XX personnel.
c. Held your duty AFSC for at least six weeks.
d. Been working in your present job for at least four weeks.
3. This USAF Inventory is in two sections:
a. A Background Information section where you provide informationabout yourself, and
b. A DUTY-TASK LIST sectior where you provide information aboutyour current job.
4. In providing the information requested, it is equally importantto follow the procedures given throughout the booklet. PRINT ALLWRITE-IN INFORMATION. DO NOT WRITE IN CLASSIFIED INFORMATION. DONOT WRITE IN BASE OR APO NUMBER.

PROCEDURE B. RATING TIME SPENT ON TASKS ON PRESENT JOB
I. Have you checked each task that you perform in your present job?
Make sure, before you continue with this procedure.
2. Now you are to rate the relative amount of time you spend performingeach task in your present job. Relative time spent means the total timeyou spend doing the task compared with the time you spend on each of the
other tasks of your present job.
3. Use a rating of "I° if you spend "very much below average" amount oftime on a task. Use a rating of "2" for "below average" time; and soon, up to a rating of "7" if you spend "very much above average" amount
of time on the task.
4. Remember, you are to rate only tasks that you have already checked
;n the first column of pages I through 62.
5. Place your rating, acccrding to the 7-point scale, in the right-hand
column, headed "Time Spent Current Job."
6. When you have completed all your ratings in the right-hand column of
pages I through 62, you will have completed this USAF Job Inventory, and
you may turn it in to your Test Control Officer.
