The ONE YOUNG MINDANAO, an advocacy-driven organization on youthleadership and empowerment, is built on the fundamental idea that we have toprepare and engage the youth of Mindanao to be able to create genuine progress

and this begins by promoting powerful leadership paradigms.

Our objective in OYM is to develop a community of Mindanao youth champions

particularly among young leaders, students and out of school youth (OSYs). Todate, we have already reached more that 20,000 students across the different partsof Mindanao with our empowerment caravan and have also succeeded in creating

civil society partnerships, regularly conducted community driven initiatives and

facilitated scholarship opportunities for OSYs.

This year, we embark on another milestone as we organize the 1st One Young

Mindanao Leadership Summit this October 10-12 at the South Cotabato

Gymnasium, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato.

There are four major activities in the summit: First is the Walk for Education asymbolic unity walk in the streets of Koronadal to promote greater consciousness on

the importance of education. Second is the Leadership Session a 1-day plenaryevent which will feature motivational speakers to talk about fundamental leadership

concepts to inspire the participants to master their leadership potentials. Third is the

OYM Facilitators Training, a 2-day workshop which will seek to train potentialfacilitators of modules which is delivered in our empowerment caravan and otherevents. Finally, we will have the OYM Leadership Expedition which will expose the

participants to cultural Tboli communities for community engagement.

The participants will be paying a registration fee of P350 for the Leadership Session(Day 1) / P2500 (live-out) for participants attending the OYM Facilitators Training /

P3000 for participants attending the OYM Leadership Expedition. Attached is thesummit primer for more details. Do not miss this chance to be part of our growing

The One Young Mindanao is an advocacy project started by Green Valley College, one of mostprogressive and proactive educational institution based in Southern Mindanao. Seeing the needto intervene in what seemed to be a culture of indifference and hopelessness among the youthespecially in terms of education, lead convenors RJ and RC Sustiguer started with givingempowerment talks to select areas of South Cotabato.

These small steps have lead to rousing the interest of leaders and professionals who resonatewith the cause. Facilitators were trained and soon, the empowerment caravan has beendeployed in the different municipalities and cities in SocSarGen and other select areas inMindanao.

Today, the OYM positions itself to creating strategic partnerships with like-mindedorganizations, government units/agencies and educational institutions from the different parts ofMindanao, which share the same passion for the youth. We recognize that we can only createdramatic impact for the Mindanao if we get everyone involved in this noble and transcendentgoal of youth leadership and empowerment.

The Leadership Summit

The Summit is an annual gathering of youth, youth leaders and other stakeholders of the youthwho believe that we must act on enabling and developing the next generation of champions forMindanao.
