About The Seminar

Every one has a fundamental and inalienable right to a healthful

environment. For many years people were mainly interested in knowing

how the environment inuences people rather than how people affect the

environment. It is recently a conversation has begun about how human

activities affect the natural environment. Pollution of the environment is

one of the most horrible ecological crisis to which we are subjected today. We know that three basic amenities for living organism are air, land or

soil and water. Sometimes in the past, these amenities were pure, virgin,

undisturbed, uncontaminated and basically more hospitable for living

organisms. But the situation is just reverse today, because of increased

human activities following the progress in science and technology in

present day scenario leading to pollution of environment and causing

serious ecological imbalance which in the long run, may prove disastrous

to the society. The craze for progress in agriculture industry, transportation

and technology is taken as the general criterion of development of any

nation. Such activities of man have created adverse effects on all living

organisms in the biosphere. Environmental pollution on one hand and

deforestation and population explosion on the other, are threatening the

very existence of life on the earth. Wastes from residential and

commercial sources also cause environmental stress. This situation can

improve only if people from all walks of life realize the importance of

environmental protection. The seminar aims at providing a thorough knowledge and exploring

the means of controlling pollution of various kinds and also intends to high

light on wastes and methods of their management.
