It gives me immense pleasure in informing you that Indian Roads Congress is organizing a two days’ International Seminar on “Construction and Rehabilitation of Rigid Pavement – Current Practice and Way Forward” in Co-operation with Govt. of India, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, PIARC and JICA on 18th and 19th January, 2019 at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

In this Seminar, representatives from various Central Govt. Departments and State PWDs, PSUs, IITs, Engineering Colleges, Contractors, Consultants, etc. will participate and discuss on various current scenario problems/issues faced in construction & rehabilitation of rigid pavements and come out with practical solutions to overcome these issues besides bringing innovative ideas towards Construction and Rehabilitation of Rigid Pavements. A good number of foreign delegates are also likely to participate in this Seminar which will give exposure of international best practices in design,construction and rehabilitation of Rigid Pavements.

Invitation Indian Roads CongressThe Indian Roads Congress (IRC) is the Apex Body of highway engineers & professionals in the country working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi. IRC was setup in 1934 and the Engineers working in Central/State Govt. Dept. viz, MoRTH; NHAI; NHIDCL; BRO; MES, NRRDA; CPWD; MoRD; MoUD, State /UT PWDs; PSUs; IITs & Engineering Colleges; Research Organizations; Contractors; Consultants, etc. are members of IRC. IRC is presently having membership strength of 17000.

The main objective of IRC is to set up/formulate Standards, Codes, Specifications, Manuals etc. for adoption by Central/State Govt. road agencies to construct and maintain sustainable road infrastructure for overall development of the country. In addition, IRC also organize various events viz, Mid-Term Council Meetings; Annual Sessions; International Seminars; Regional Workshops; etc at various locations in India in order to disseminate and propagate technical knowledge and make highway professionals aware about current state of art practices, specifications, guidelines, cutting-edge environmental friendly technology, etc.

ObjectiveThe technical Sessions of the Seminar will aim at providing a common platform to the Highway Engineers both from Government and Private Sectors, Planners, Consultants, Contractors, Research Organizations, Manufacturers, Academic Institutes to exchange their knowledge of latest innovations on design and construction of Rigid Pavement, construction material and construction technology, repair and rehabilitation. One Session each will also be devoted to Evaluation and Health Monitoring as well as to Case Studies.

The Seminar is designed to attract active participation of all concerned, which will help in sharing experiences, updating knowledge, identifying appropriate technology and revision of the existing specifications, codes of practices and guidelines in the field of rigid pavements.
