A bomb threat was called into MacArthur High School this morning, prompting animmediate evacuation at the same Irving, Texas, high school where freshman AhmedMohamed brought in a homemade clock-in-a-box on Sept. 14 that school officialsdeemed a hoax bomb.

Police spokesman James McClellan confirmed that someone called the schools mainphone at 9:45 AM from an anonymous number and said a bomb would explode in 30minutes.According toKDFW-4 (FOX), school officials took the call seriously.Teachers and staff evacuated the school, moving all students to the football field

while police swept the campus, searching each building. Officers found nothingsuspicious, giving an all clear and students were allowed to return to class around

10:45 AM.

Police called the bomb threat a hoax and continue to investigate the incident,objectively to locate the individual behind the bomb threat, who, when found, couldface state felony charges and receive from two to six months in jail plus a $10,000fine.

During the threat, some parents chose to pick up their children after getting a textalert or automatic phone call about the evacuation. One mother told KDFW-4 shedidnt feel comfortable leaving her child there because she wasnt getting enough

MacArthur is the same high school where Ahmed Mohamed brought in hishomemade clock project that did not resemble a clock but instead a possible suitcase

bomb and resulted in the teens arrest at the time, although no charges were filed.Under the Texas Safe Schools Act of 1995 and states education code, Irving ISDofficials acted in response to todays bomb threat no differently than they reacted to

Mohameds confusing-looking clock. The boy continues to espousehimself a targetbecause of his Muslim faith, although Breitbart Texas reportedthat zero tolerancepolicies, not racism or Islamophobia, were behind his arrest.

Mohameds parents since unenrolled him from MacArthur High School andwithdrew him from Irving ISD. The 14-year-old is believed to be overseas, invited tovisit Qatar by the Qatar Foundation, which gives to educational causes. Their sisterinstitution, the Qatar Foundation International (QFI), recently grantedthe ArabicImmersion Magnet School in the Houston Independent School District $75,000.

We are hear to ask why is it that your officers arrested Ahmed Mohamed...even after theydetermined that he did not bring a bomb to school? He was arrested for "not beingforthcoming"? He said that it was a clock. How much more "forthcoming" does he need tobe? It was a clock! He said it was a clock.

Your officers told him that he did not have a right to remain silent? We think the 5thAmendment of the Constitution has something to say about that. Perhaps your officers shouldre-familiarize themselves with the Constitution which you have sworn to uphold.

This could have been an open and quickly shut case. Instead, it was escalated withoutwarrant. Where was the bomb squad? Where was the evacuation? Is this not standard

procedure when there is a bomb threat? Or even more when there is an actually suspected"bomb"? Instead, the teacher took the "bomb" and put it on her desk? Then the principaltook the "bomb" and put it on his desk? What if it had been a real bomb and not just aclock?

school.ece#commentsDiv.Your department's treatment of Ahmed is a national embarrassment. This in particular is so

moronic that it almost seems like it should be from the Onion: "'We have no informationthat he claimed it was a bomb,' McLellan said. 'He kept maintaining it was a clock, but

there was no broader explanation.' Asked what broader explanation the boy could

have given, the spokesman explained: 'It could reasonably be mistaken as a device if

left in a bathroom or under a car. The concern was, what was this thing built for? Do

we take him into custody?'"

This type of over-reaction and ridiculous antics contribute to the image of police

officers as incompetent fools willing to violate the constitution because they don't

have common sense to deal with even minor situations.

I hope that Ahmed's family decides to pursue legal action, and if they are represented by CAIR, I'll be making a

donation to the cause.

Curt Autry of NBC12 summed it up with a few points I had not thought of:14 YEAR OLD AHMED... a boy with dreams of becoming an engineer, wanted to show histeacher the digital clock he'd made from a pencil case. The teenager's day ended not withpraise, but punishment. The school called Irving, Texas police - who hauled him off to jail incuffs! THREE questions,if police really thought his homemade clock was a bomb - wouldn'tthey have called the bomb squad? (they do have one). Wouldn't they evacuate the entireschool complex? (they didn't)...And he looks to be all of 90 lbs - was he a real threat to thearresting officer (over his shoulder) - did he really have to be cuffed and humiliated? Schoolsneed to quit calling police to handle simple disciplinary issues - and scaring the hell out oflittle kids. We're creating another generation who will fear & hate police.

It clearly has a large format display a carefully etchedcustom circuit board, a 9 volt battery plug (probably in case power goes out), a power cord, atransformer to drop voltage from 110vac to probably 8vac, and another board that looks likethe controls for setting the clock. Actually all of the nerds are weighing in today and I posted that story at insideautomotive.com

That being said, there was nothing about this device that looks like a bomb. At least for anyone who has

any knowledge of circuit boards. I deal with them all of the time in recording gear and putting electronic

equipment into hard cases for carrying is SOP.

For it to be a bomb, it would have to be wired to a block of C4, dynamite, or even a pipe with explosives

inside. None of which exists on Ahmed's circuit board. And that is the true stupidity of all of this. Of course,

the police also knew this immediately and still arrested the kid. Therein lies the problem.

OK, so a 14 year old kid is scared of cops. I can believe that. But the cops knew it wasn't anything other

than an electronic clock and as one can tell from the nerd story today, it's even an electronic clock kit sold

commercially with labeling on it.

This is why the police never called it anything other than a hoax bomb. Which to everyone else in the world

it's a digital clock. I have a hoax bomb on my headboard that wakes me up every morning.

Again, anyone who knows anything about electronics or computers are laughing their asses off that this

teacher flipped out. And they are shocked the police knew there was nothing to this and still arrested the

kid.

And when you arrest people that you know are innocent you should be panicked too.

If you'll arrest this kid for that, best arrest every kid at MacArthur wearing a wristwatch. Those are used as

timers too.

Automotive to my friends and coworkers to get the best evaluation of vehicles they are considering

to purchase as well as great entertainment. Your productions The Backside of American History, and

A Moment in Rock and Roll History, have provided me a better understanding of our history and

American culture than any public school or college I have attended.

To the point, on September 19, 2015, your closing remarks of The Backside of American History,

implied that the Irving Independent School District overreacted to a clock and that Irving Police

Department acted inappropriately by arresting Ahmed Mohamed. Your vague assertion that thepolice involvement was racially motivated was an inaccurate reflection of the facts and concerns for

all of the students and faculty. Your outrageous comparison of Ahmeds treatment to Mary Wolcott

and the Salem witch trails was listened to by hundreds of thousands of your faithful audience who I

consider very reasonable. Your statement inaccurately validated a perception of racial bias. I am

certain that you formed your opinion from information gleaned from local news sources however;

you did not nor do not have the all of the facts.

Ever since 9/11, all citizens have been encouraged, If you see something, say something. I hope

that accusations of being labeled a racist, bigot, or hater, does not discourage future outcries
