DOCUMENT:

Iqra university library provides DDS (Document Delivery Services) to those faculty members, who are making research in their respective fields. Required research papers are sent to the faculty members via email.

Book Bank:

Book Bank for the Engineering Students has been established and all the students of the Engineering Department can get 03 books issued for the whole semester without paying additional fee. This facility will also be extended to the students of the Business Administration in future.

IU Digital Library Advantages:

Traditional libraries are limited by storage space; IU digital libraries have the potential to store much more information, simply because digital information requires very little physical space to contain it. As such, the cost of maintaining a digital library can be much lower than that of a traditional library. A physical library must spend large sums of money paying for staff, book maintenance, rent, and additional books. Digital libraries may reduce or, in some instances, do away with these fees. Both types of library require cataloguing input to allow users to locate and retrieve material. Digital libraries may be more willing to adopt innovations in technology providing users with improvements in electronic and audio book technology as well as presenting new forms of communication such as wikis and blogs; conventional libraries may consider that providing online access to their OPAC catalogue is sufficient. An important advantage to digital conversion is increased accessibility to users. They also increase availability to individuals who may not be traditional patrons of a library, due to geographic location or organizational affiliation.

No physical boundary:. The user of a digital library need not to go to the library physically; people from all over the world can gain access to the same information, as long as an Internet connection is available..

Round the clock availability:A major advantage of digital libraries is that people can gain access 24/7 to the information.

Multiple Access: The same resources can be used simultaneously by a number of institutions and patrons. This may not be the case for copyrighted material: a library may have a license for "lending out" only one copy at a time; this is achieved with a system ofdigital rights managementwhere a resource can become inaccessible after expiration of the lending period or after the lender chooses to make it inaccessible (equivalent to returning the resource).

Information retrieval: The user is able to use any search term (word, phrase, title, name, subject) to search the entire collection. Digital libraries can provide very user-friendly interfaces, giving clickable access to its resources.

Preservation and conservation: Digitization is not a long-term preservation solution for physical collections, but does succeed in providing access copies for materials that would otherwise fall to degradation from repeated use. Digitized collections and born-digital objects pose many preservation and conservation concerns that analog materials do not

Space. Whereas traditional libraries are limited by storage space, IU digital libraries have the potential to store much more information, simply because digital information requires very little physical space to contain them and media storage technologies are more affordable than ever before.

Added value. Certain characteristics of objects, primarily the quality of images, may be improved. Digitization can enhance legibility and remove visible flaws such as stains and discoloration.

Digital Archives:

Physicalarchivesdiffer from physical libraries in several ways. Traditionally, archives are defined as:

1. Containingprimary sourcesof information (typically letters and papers directly produced by an individual or organization) rather than the secondary sources found in a library (books, periodicals, etc.).

2. Having their contents organized in groups rather than individual items.

3. Having unique contents.

Software:

There are a number of software packages for use in general digital libraries, for notable ones seeDigital library software. Institutional repository software, which focuses primarily on ingest, preservation and access of locally produced documents, particularly locally produced academic outputs.

Reports:

The library stocks various statistical, annual and research reports as well as directories, catalogues from local and international associations.

Research Work (Theses):

The Research work section contains about 500 standard research papers (theses) by students of IUMC on various topics of PhD, M.Phil, M. Ed and MBA.

Library Collection:

General Collection:

This is the main collection comprising high quality selective books related to the academic programs. The books on computer science, computer engineering, economics, public administration, science & technology, management sciences , philosophy, psychology, religion, sociology, politics, law, language & literature, arts, and history & geography are housed at IU EDC-Library.

Reference Collection:

A significant number of current reference sources are available on reference shelves. Various electronic databases including micro data-sets produced by Federal Bureau of Statistics are distinct features of this collection. This collection also contains dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, directories, yearbooks, atlases, bibliographies.

Multimedia Collection:

Multimedia section provides access to audiovisual material; CD-ROMs, DVDs, and videos. The section is equipped with Cable TV, VCRs, CD & DVD players, a Hi-Fi audio system, and microfilm and microfiche readers.

Course Reserve:

The library has a collection of course reserves/reading packages of the courses offered during last five years. These course reserves have been developed by the faculty to fulfill the textual/course needs of the students.

Electronic Database:

The library has access to a wide range of electronic resources including e-databases, e-journals and e-books accessible through internet, campus wide network and from the library terminals. A list of all databases/journals is available at library website.

Conclusion:

Libraries, many of their resources and services, and the information experts who

Work in libraries appear to be increasingly less visible in a universe of abundant

Information, but without data we could not say with any certainty how extensive this

Apparent shift has become. The Perceptions of Libraries and Information Resources

Report provides this data.

The purpose of the report is to provide a clear picture of the perceptions of college

Attending respondents, for the benefit of IU Library. The report is the result of a need to

better understand the interests, habits and behaviors of college students using IU

librariesor notin a time of information abundance.

IU Library provide all kind of Library facilities to their students such as Journals, Reports,

Newspapers, Books, Computers, Newsletters, Electronic Database and so on.
