GAMI GCU R-134a Chillers are a latest series of chillers meeting superior specifications which are mandatory for our region to withstand harsh climatic conditions.

This range of air cooled screw chiller is available from 45 TR to 416 TR in 50 Hz power supply and is suitable for high ambient operation up to 52 °C. These chillers are equipped with high efficiency semi-hermetic screw compressors which offer excellent part load performance due to electronic expansion valve and condenser pressure control and long lasting robust operation. Each of these chillers will have two inde-pendent refrigerant circuits in order to offer redundancy during scheduled maintenance.

The cooler offered in this chiller is direct expansion (DX) type with shell and tube evaporator configuration which is convenient for site personnel to perform cleaning procedure.

The structure of the chiller incorporates minimum vibration and low noise design.

One of the key advantages is that the chiller has com-pact and modular design and utilizes small footprint for installation at site. Adding to the convenience of our customers, this chiller will be shipped in two sections for safe and easy lifting.

INTRODUCTION

COMPRESSORS

Refrigerant compression is achieved through the below processes and thus giving higher part load efficiencies. Suction & Sealing Compression Discharge

GAMI GCU R-134a series Chiller use COMER brand Semi-hermetic screw compressors with latest and advanced 5:6 ratio patented screw rotor profile which makes it highly efficient & best reliable in all operating conditions These compressors are designed specifically for modern refrigerant having the following characteristics:

Long life bearings. Double-walled rotor housing. Precise capacity control through injection & by passing of oil with pressure differential. Continuous (Stepless) capacity control system and automatic start unloading as standard.

EVAPORATORS

The compressors can be loaded depending upon the requirement through microprocessor which precisely modulates itself accordingly. All compressors are provided with motor winding temperature protection, discharge temperature protection, phase reversal protection, phase failure protection and oil level protection. Screw compressors in GAMI GCU R-134a Series provide virtually maintenance free operation as there are fewer moving parts. Long file special bearings facilitate longer run periods of compressor without any need for maintenance.

COMPRESSORS

GAMI GCU R-134a series Chiller use direct expansion shell & tube compact type evaporators. The tube bundle, directly welded to the shell, is non-removable, the straight tube configuration allows any-way to clean easily the inner tubes. The standard construction of the shell & tube evapora-tors consists of the following materials: • Cast ductile iron or carbon steel for headers • Carbon steel for tube-sheets, shell, refrigerant and water connections • Copper for exchanger tubes • Plastic material or carbon steel for baffles • Asbestos free and O-Ring gaskets • Alloys steel bolts and nuts Evaporators are insulated & have a fouling factor of 0.000043 m2K/W moreover they are tested for

maximum working pressure of 16 bar (at Shell side) & 23 bar (at Tubes side) to ensure the reliability of its operation to withstand the requirements. Evaporator shell will be provided with factory fitted thermal insulation. Evaporator will have one water inlet & outlet connection suitable for victau-lic couplings. Evaporators are available both with CE and ASME certification as per requirement.

The condenser shall be multi-pass, multi-pass type equipped with aluminum louvered fins, mechanical bonded to seamless, oxygen-free inner grooved copper tubes. The coil shall be cleaned, dehydrated and tested for leakage at the maximum permissible working pressure of 35 bar. Condenser-fan motors shall be 3-phase type with

external rotor structure, permanently lubricated bearings and Class F insulation.

REFRIGERATION CIRCUITS

CONDENSERS

Refrigerant circuit components include, compressor, with build inn oil separator, high and low side pressure relief devices, and liquid line shutoff valves, economizer, filter driers, moisture indicating sight glasses, electronic expansion device and complete operating charge of both refrigerant HFC-134a and compressor oil.

To facilitate service and maintenance and avoid refrigerant charge transfers, it is possible to isolate the following components and systems independently: filter driers, oil filters, and compressor (with service valves as an option).

CONTROLS

Unit controls include: microprocessor with nonvolatile memory, picture guided unit/operator interface, the LOCAL/OFF/REMOTE se-lector and a display module. Pressure sensors are installed to measure suction, discharge, and oil pressure. Thermistors are installed to measure cooler entering and leaving temperatures and outside air temperature. Unit is suitable for communicating with BMS protocol such BACNET, MODBUS, etc. Unit is capable of performing the following functions: Automatic change-over and cycling of compressors to equalize running hours and number of starts. EXV control, based on throttling optimizes evaporator charging, ensuring condenser superheat. Capacity control based on leaving or entering chilled

fluid temperature with return fluid temperature sensing. Limit the chilled fluid temperature pull-down rate at start

-up

to an adjustable range of 0.1°C to 1.1°C per minute to prevent excessive demand spikes at start-up. Enable reset of leaving chilled water temperature according to the return water temperature Provide a dual set point for the leaving chilled water temperature activated by a remote contact closure signal or by the built in time clock. Enable a 2-level demand limit control (between 0 and 100%) or a maximum current drawn limit activated by a remote contact closure or by the built in time clock. Control evaporator water pump and, if installed, stand-by pump operation. Allow two time scheduling programs to enable unit start-up control, demand limit and set-point changes. Enable lead lag control of two chillers running in series or parallel.

SAFETIES

DIAGNOSTICS

Display module is capable of displaying set points, system status including temperatures, pressures, current for each compressor, run time and percent loading.

The control system allows a quick test of all machine elements to verify the correct operation of every switch, circuit breaker, contactor etc. before the chiller is started.

Unit is equipped with all necessary components, and in conjunction with the control system will provide the unit with protection against the following: - Loss of refrigerant charge (indirectly through SST decrease). - Reverse rotation. - Low chilled water temperature. - Low oil pressure (per compressor). - Current imbalance.

- Compressor thermal overload - Automatic compressor unloading in case of exces-sive air temperature - High pressure. - Electrical overload. - Loss of phase. Fan motors shall be individually protected by a circuit breaker. Unit will provide separate general alert (minor incident) and alarm (circuit down) remote indication.
