SIZE 6-12 mo:

Start with CC and work in rounds with crochet hook 5.5 mm (I)

To begin: ch 3; join ch with a sl st toform a ring

Rnd 1: ch1; work 6 sc into ring; join with sl st to beg. ch = 6 sts

Rnd 2: ch1; 2 sc in ea st around; join with sl st to first st = 12 sts


Rnd 4: ch1; work sc in each st around; join with sl st to first st = 24 sts

Rnd 5: ch1; [1 sc in next st; 2 sc in next st] 12 times; join with sl st to first st = 36 sts


Rnd 7: ch1; [1 sc in ea of next 2 sts; 2 sc in next st] 12 times; join with sl st to first st = 48 sts


Rnd 9: ch1; [1 sc in each of next 7 sts; 2 sc in next st] 6 times; join with sl st to first st = 54 sts


Break CC; join MC and now work in rounds continuously, do not join. Use stitch marker or contrast yarn to mark beginning of each round:

Second Earflap:Skip 11 st from first earflap on the back side ofthe hat, join MC and work in same manner asfirst earflap. Do not break yarn after last row, cont work hat edge.

Edging : Work with MC :ch 1 to beg, work sc sts throughout hat edge; sl st in beg ch; fasten off, weave in all loose ends.

Braids :• For each braid cut 5 strands of MC; 5 strands of CC; and 5 strands of LC (approx. twice longer than desired ties length.)• Pull groups through the bottom of eachearflap using crochet hook and fold them onthe middle.• Braid yarn, secure and then trim the ends.

• Cont work from A to C : 2 dc in next st; work 2 hdc towards C; cont work 2 sc towards C; finish off in C leaving long tail for sewing.



Iris:Work with hook 3.5 mm (E) and LBC

To begin: ch 3Rnd 1: work 11 hdc in 3rd ch from hook; join

with sl st top of beg ch 3 = 11 hdc sts

Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

Pupil:Work with hook 3.5 mm (E) and BC

To begin: ch 3; join ch with a sl st to form a ringRnd 1: ch1; work 8 sc into ring; join with sl st

to beg. ch = 8 sc sts


Finishing eye:

• Sew Pupil on the top of iris with back stitch using BC

• Sew iris on the top of sclera with back stitch using LBC

• Stitch a twinkle with WC

NOSE:

Work with hook 3.5 mm (E) and PC

To begin: ch 3; join ch with a sl st to form a ring

Rnd 1: ch1; work 6 sc into ring; join with sl stto beg ch = 6 sc sts

Rnd 2: ch1; [sc in next st; 2 sc in next st] 3 times; join with sl st to beg ch = 9 sc sts

Rnd 3: ch1; work sc in ea st around; join with sl st to beg ch = 9 sc sts




EARS:Work with hook 5.5 mm (I) and MC

Left Ear:To begin: ch 3; join ch with a sl st to form a ringRow 1: ch 1; work (2 sc; 3 hdc; 2 dc; 2 trc; 2 dc;

2 hdc) in ring; ch 1; turn = 13 stsRow 2: work sc in ea of next 4 sts; 3 sc in next

Right Ear:To begin: ch 3; join ch with a sl st to form a ringRow 1: ch 3 (count as 1st hdc); work (1 hdc; 2

Row 2: work sc in ea of next 8 sts; 3 sc in next st; sc in ea of next 4 sts = 15 sc stsFinish off leaving long tail for sewing

FINISHING HAT:

• Sew nose to the hat with whip stitch using PC

• Sew eyes to the hat with back stitch, using WC around sclera edge and LBC around eyelid edge

• Back stitch eyelash edge between sclera and eyelid using BC

• Straight stitch eyelashes using BC



• Sew ears to each side of the hat with whip stitch using MC

• Using PC stitch 3 freckles on each cheek with French Knot as follows:

Bring the needle from WS to RS of the hat;

Twist yarn around the needle 5 times

Pull needle through the wraps and then downthrough the stitch where it was brought up

Secure knot on WS

HOW to FINISH HAIR:



• Prepare bunches of yarn for hair: holding LC and CC tog for each bundle wrap them twice around 9" (23cm) piece of cardboard and then cut bundle one side.

• Put your hat on to hat form when making hair

• Hair Bang:Using crochet hook knot bunches through the stitches on front side of the hat (as marked on the picture below)

Insert the hook between stitches on the top of the hat; fold the strands in half and using crochet hook pull them creating a loop, then pull ends through the loop to create a firm knot.

Trim the ends to desired length

• Back Hair:Do not knot bunches as you did for the bang, but pull them through the stitches and fold the strands in half



Using crochet hook pull strands through each stitch around D-E-F edge, then work from G to D; then from G to F and then from E to G (Remember, do not knot! Only pull them and fold on the middle)

• Hair Styling :

Divide back hair into two equal sections



Tie 2 tails using yarn or hair elastics.

Flowers (2):

Start with YC and hook 3.5 mm (E)

To begin: Ch 3, join with a sl st to first chainto form ring.

Rnd 1: ch 1; work 10 sc into ring; join with sl stto beg ch = 10 sc sts

Join WC, Break YC and cont work next rnd:

Rnd 2: [ch 3; 2 trc in next st; ch 3; sl st in next st] 5 times = 5 petals Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing; sew flowers on the top of ea tail.

Trim tails to desired length
