Ircogel® 903
Product Type Calcium Sulfonate Rheology Control Additive
Predispersed in Diisononyl Phthalate (DINP)
Performance Ircogel 903 controls sag in PVC plastisol coatings and sealants by creating a more shear-thinning rheological behavior. This maintains flow and ease of application. The product is supplied as a gel diluted in DINP and can be simply stirred into the formulation. The gel structure is more thermally stable than that of other rheological additives, promoting sag control at all temperatures, even during the gellation process. Ircogel 903 provides the following benefits: • Permits post-add viscosity adjustments • Improves strike-through resistance • Maintains yield value during cure cycle, thus decreasing
product defects • Increases sag resistance • Reduces processing time • Improves pumpability of sealants • Minimizes viscosity drift upon shelf storage
Typical Applications Ircogel 903 is useful in a wide range of applications, including: • Dip coatings • Cloth coatings • Underbody sealants • Screen printing inks • Coil coatings Based on: • PVC Plastisols • Organosols • Polysulfides • Polymercaptans
Incorporation Ircogel 903 may be added either at the compounding or post-addition stage of manufacturing, using normal stirrers. However, Ircogel 903 can be incorporated during the grind stage of manufacturing to ensure batch uniformity.
