(860) 633-9691 Presidents Message Dear Fellow Members, By the time you read this newsletter, March will be gone and hopefully the frightful weather with it! I am beginning to think that Mother Nature doesnt like St. Patrick very much! It snowed the day of our Annual Corned Beef Dinner, but despite the weather we had hun- dreds come to enjoy the dinner and the wonderful young Irish dancers who performed to the delight of the crowds. A few weeks later our wonderful St. Patricks Day Parade was postponed due to severe weather predictions only to have it snow the morning of the Pa- rade! St. Patricks Day dawned cold and rainy but thankfully by lunchtime the rains ended and the sun made a desperate attempt to break through the clouds. But despite the weather, our members and guests flocked to our club to enjoy each celebration! Ma ny thanks to the volunteers that helped make these events a success….watch for the listing in our May newsletter. Many of you are asking about the future of the Greater Hartford Irish Music Festival. The Board of Directors has decided not to hold a festival in 2015. A more detailed notice can be found later in this newsletter but suffice it to say that the festival was a financial suc- cess for our vendors, bands and service providers (tents, sound company, etc.). However, it has not been a success for the club in several years. Attendance is down and trying to get enough volunteers to set-up and take down the event had become a futile task. So please take a moment to read the notice and should you have any questions or comments, please contact me. Congratulations once again to Margaret Oliver Moriarty, Parade Grand Marshal, and Tim Devanney, Person of the Year! And congratu- lations to the Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee General Chair, Liz Saunders, and Parade Chair, Eileen K. Moore, for a spectacular parade despite the snow! A tremendous amount of hard work goes into the formation of the parade and you succeeded despite the weather! All the best, Maureen A. Kennedy President Irish American Home Society Inc. President’s Message

Dear Fellow Members, By the time you read this newsletter, March will be gone and hopefully the frightful weather with it! I am beginning to think that Mother Nature doesn’t like St. Patrick very much! GREATER HARTFORD IRISH

MUSIC FESTIVAL After much discussion and an in-depth review of the financial impact of our Festival, the Board of Direc-tors has decided not to hold a festi-val in 2015. This decision was not easily reached and our Directors took into consideration the enor-mous amount of work and dedica-tion that went into this event by the Festival Committee and our mem-bers. While the Festival will not be held this year, we will be looking into the future of the festival and other alternative cultural and fundraising events.
