The Glasnevin Cenetery is the largest
cemetery in Ireland, situated on Finglas
Road in Dublin. It is estimated that there are about 1,200,000 burials of several
denominations and nationalities in it. The Glasnevin cemetery is situated beside busy
street with large park just beside. It’s no buildings just beside

Car park is not very big and I thing that in busy day might be problem with left a car

Has it been restored
An on-going Restoration programme began in 2007
with the aim of restoring the great necropolis of The
Glasnevin Cemetery to the pristine glory of the early
1900s. Estimated to take 10 years, the completion
date is due in time for the 2016 Easter Rising centenary celebrations.This programme
spearheaded by Glasnevin Trust, is funded by the National Development Plan (NDP)
through the Office of Public Works (OPW).
Quality of conservation/restoration
I think quality of conservation stands on very high level
and museum exposition as well. Whole place looks
professionally manage.

The Glasnevin Cemetery is the largest cemetery in
Ireland. First opened in 1832 to establish a place where
people of all religions could bury their dead with dignity, the cemetery has grown to
become a national monument and vital part of the Irish Heritage story.

What is historical/ heritage/ cultural significance site?
The Glasnevin Cemetery has historical purpose. Inside the
museum is very Professional touch screen presentation with
most import ant peoples and events in Irish history. The
exhibitions on view seek to show the social, historical,
political and artistic development of modern Ireland through
the lives of the generations buried in Ireland’s Necropolis.

Reception/entrance area
Receptions look very nice. There is shop with many items,
books, booklets. I found very few free leaflets.

Tour cost €8

There was few information sigs with parts of cemetery. There were also route signs for
easier find grave you look for.
Access for mobility impaired/wheelchair user
Museum is friendly for wheelchair users; there is an elevator,
special toilets and signs. Cemetery has route path.

Cemetery is fully restored and safety for visitors

There are a large number of tourists from all over the world

Additional amenities
Multimedia presentation shows history of Irish most
important peoples, most important event and many others. It
is also showing were exactly they are buried. Presentation contains 8 connected
touchscrens witch works together and few other individual.

There were many books, booklets, maps and items from very cheap to very expensive

There was interactive presentation, computers, and artifacts.
Interesting thing was “wall of memory” where all buried
people’s names was display.
Sound and lighting
In the ground floor was exhibition with history of the place in
Halloween style with light, skeletons and models of XIX century cemetery workers.
Tour guide (quality of presentation, knowledge)
Our tour guide give very good presentation in very interesting
way. Quality of presentation was very high. Tour with see
museum takes about 2h
Audio-visual display (seating capacity, slides, DVD)
There is no movie or slide presentation, but touch screens are even more original and
interesting way shows place history and importance.
