IRLA Packet-2B
Dear Families,
Let us start with how much we appreciate YOU! We know that we all have undergone a HUGE change in the past few weeks. We do not expect you to become teachers overnight. We are trying to make this as easy and fun as possible to help your students continue to grow as readers! Please let us know what we can do to make it easier. We are here to support YOU!
Included in this packet are resources to help teach your child. This is a 2B IRLA Level Packet. Here is what you will find:
1) Schedule. This schedule will map out what your child will be practicing every two
weeks and what activities to do! Like we said, we want to make it fun and as easy as possible!
Many of the books you will be reading can be found on Bookshelf. To make it easier for you to access Bookshelf, and other fabulous reading resources, we are going to have you login in via Clever. Your teacher will show you how!!! :) Stay tuned!
Schedule: June 1st-June 11th Major Learning Skill: I can read 2B Tricky Words at flash speed. For the last two weeks you will practice the 2B Tricky Words. Hopefully, you will already know several, if not all, of them! The goal is to know how to read them at flash speed and how to spell them, too. We are including several fun activities you can use with any of the words. Have fun! Activities to complete these 2 weeks: Day 1 ACTIVITY #1: TRICKY WORD CHECKLIST Look at the Tricky Word list that lists all 75 words on one sheet. See how many words you can already know at flash speed and check the ones you know without even having to think about it! Give yourself a high five for knowing what you know! :) ACTIVITY #2: FLASHCARDS Make flash cards out of the 2B Tricky word list. Practice reading and writing as many words as you can today. Days 2 - Days 9 In this packet, we have included several fun ideas for practicing Tricky Words. Pick at least one activity to complete each day. Feel like you need more support? Check out these two resources:
1) There is a Literacy Hotline where you can call in or video chat every day from 9:00-10:00 a.m. It is staffed by reading coaches in Isle of Wight County. Of course, you can always get in touch with your child’s teacher first! :)
a) Join Hangouts Meet meet.google.com/rgu-recc-azh
b) Join by phone +1 720-500-3324 PIN: 841 239 201#
2) We also have a YouTube channel! Please visit to see more videos being uploaded weekly! :) Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJW5EECLNlaZv1cLUFgnSqA or type in ‘#isleREAD channel’ to find it.
