Introduction ISO 14001 is some part of management system specification in ISO 14000 series. [1]. ISO 14001 known as environment management system (EMS) standard, that provide a framework to direct the use of organizational resources [2]. This standard will help an organization to reduce the environmental impact [3] and it commonly practice in most manufacturing company in the world. The organization or company that achieve this standard certification will able to reduce waste and will increase the benefit. Implementation of ISO 14001[1] [4] [5] They have 5 factors that need to be considering in order implementing EMS standard. 1. Policy This factor needs to be specific that relate to the company activities. The policy must contain responsibility to continuously improve environment management system and to prevent pollution. This policy will be related to employees, shareholders, and other parties. 2. Planning The planning is specified in the planning section standard (Section 4.2) that an organization need to:

Introduction

ISO 14001 is some part of management system specification in ISO 14000 series.

that achieve this standard certification will able to reduce waste and will increase the

benefit.

Implementation of ISO 14001[1] [4] [5]

They have 5 factors that need to be considering in order implementing EMS

standard.

1. Policy

This factor needs to be specific that relate to the company activities. The

policy must contain responsibility to continuously improve environment

management system and to prevent pollution. This policy will be related to

employees, shareholders, and other parties.

2. Planning

The planning is specified in the planning section standard (Section 4.2) that

an organization need to:

Provided a procedure to identify the environmental aspects of its

operations.

Provided and constant the focus of documented environmental and

targets at each relevant function and level within the organization

Provided and constant an environmental program for achieving its

objectives and targets

3. Implementation and Operation

Elements that are required for conformance to Section 4.3 of IS0 14001

include Structure and responsibility, Training, awareness, and competence,

Communication, Environmental management system documentation,

Document control, Operational control and Emergency preparedness and

response

4. Checking and Corrective Action

Subsection 4.4 of IS0 14001 addresses checking or monitoring activities related

to the EMS as well as means and methods for taking corrective action if

deficiencies are found. Included in the section are Methods of monitoring and

measuring the EMS, Handling and investigating non-conformances,

Implementing corrective action and preventive action, maintaining environmental

records, Establishing and maintaining an EMS audit program.

5. Management Review

According to the IS0 14001 Specification, Section 4.5, a management review

is to be performed and documented at intervals determined by management

to ensure the EMS is suitable, adequate, and effective. The EMS must ensure

that needed information is compiled to allow for a proper management review,

such as Previous management review and audit results, Environmental

objectives and targets versus performance results Changes in business

environment that may influence policy, objectives, and targets New or

changed legislation New or changed stakeholder or interested party

expectations Changes in applicable technology, including work processes

Organization's financial and competitive position Business areas and activities

Market preferences Environmental incidents, non- conformances, and

corrective action.

Conclusion

By implemented ISO 14001 standard successfully, it will be able to clearly

demonstrate company commitment to reducing waste and recycling materials.

It also can help certain company to meet legal obligations as well as

increasing new business opportunities. ISO 14001 is a perfect standard to be

implement in most company [5].
